I purchased this truck Aug1,2025, and I’m genuinely enjoying it. However, I’m experiencing a rough Idle. It is to the point to where you can stand outside and put your hand on the door and feel the idle through the door. I have had several people to sit in my truck and to stand and put their arm on the door of my truck and they immediately feel The vibration from a rough Idle. Took to dealer twice. They said it’s common with this truck.

How many miles? Any DTCs from code reader?

There is a very recent recall out for many Fords for low pressure fuel pump failure which results in stalling, but first can manifest as rough idle or misfires and check engine light. However, it only covers 2021-2022 F150s (at least for now). Here it is:

Before worrying about that which doesn’t apply (yet) to you, have you tried a different gas station (e.g. busy one that sells Top Tier Fuel), tried a bottle or two of fuel injection cleaner (e.g. Techron), tried a tank of higher octane? I’d try those initially.

My 2.7L idles very smooth (2024), except when the AC is on it idles a tiny bit more rough/has a minor hesitation if I pay close attention, but still pretty smooth overall.

If it makes you feel any better I have a 23 f150 with the 3.5 non power boost that I bought new and have had for a year with 8500 miles. It only idles rough when it’s been sitting outside in 90 degrees heat when you first start it. It will idle like this for 4 or 5 minutes. This rough idle also affect transmission shifting for a few miles then clears up. This is the second 3.5 I’ve owned the last was a 2020 that exhibited the exact same behavior. When the temps cool down in the fall and winter it will go away till next summer. I have also experienced the occasional rough idle even when not hot outside but nothing serious. I don’t know if it’s normal or not. I’ve read post where people say there’s never idle rough so go figure.

I have driven a couple different service loaners that had that 2.7L Ecoboost in them and the vibration at idle was terrible in all of them. I complained to my dealer that something was wrong with the engine in the first one I had regarding the idle and was told they all idle rough like that.

Must be a common issue with some V6 engines at idle. My 2023 FX4 2.7l idles rough as well - misses a little. Not any real vibration per se. Once warmed up seems to go away.

On the other hand my former 2012 Nissan Frontier with the 4.0l V6 vibrated at idle from new until I traded it in this year. Smooth as silk above idle though.

Im assuming you run 87 octane fuel? If so try 93 and im going to bet you see it smooth out. Its an issue on ecoboost engines across Ford.

Been running 93 since new. I wished that helped. Maybe it would prefer 87😂

I don’t feel so bad now that I have spoken to everyone. When I test drove the truck, it drove so smooth and it felt so good. The seats and everything and the idle didn’t seem to be an issue. Then when I started driving it and spending more time on the road with it and coming to stoplights is when I notice the rough idle and started feeling like oh no what have I done?
