RAS combined with my CCD adjustments could be the ticket!
@Snakebitten I installed the HD RAS kit and had my first test run towing to a race event with my 24' enclosed trailer a few weeks ago. At the black disc setting (thickest) I'd say it improved the bounce/porpoising I was experiencing by about 50%. RAS said if I wanted to crank these things all the way up, you can stack the discs together. I did just that and adjusted the RAS for the return trip and I'd say it improved an additional 20% from the initial setting.

All that said, if I put the truck in sport mode instead of tow/haul, the bounce/porpoising is pretty much eliminated. The truck just drives so planted in sport mode, but obviously not the best mode for towing. Looks like I'm going to crank up the CCD settings via FORscan even more than I did initially. I'm thinking another 20% on top of what I've already done with @bmwfrk settings.

Just wanted to report back with an update! ?

Thanks for the RAS testing/reporting, as well as the Sport/CCD vs Tow/CCD comparison.

I'm not so sure that the so-called "Sport" shifting strategy isn't a fair choice for towing, if you are pleased enough with the damping and shifting?
Obviously I would switch to 2WD probably.

Yes, for sure would put it back to 2wd. Maybe I need to do more testing with sport mode when towing. It doesn't do any of the engine braking when slowing down, but the effect of that with the small displacement 3.5 is pretty minimal anyway. I'm also curious how long it will hold gears before downshifting/upshifting.

I'm just pointing out my opinion of the power-of-suggestion of the "labels" given to the multiple shift strategies that our modern vehicles have available.

The word "Sport" and "Tow" are just words attached to when you would push the clutch in and shift or downshift if you were driving a manual transmission.
(a bit of oversimplification, but not much)

In other words, if it was a standard transmission and I was towing a load OR I was driving "sporty", my shift points might very well be similar, right?
I mean compared to driving casually/normal, so to speak.

I recently added an F350 XLT to my personal fleet of towing tools.
And it will rarely ever be driven unhitched. But I did have to put some unhitched miles on it before it ventured out on its maiden towing voyage. (you are supposed to break it in for 1000 miles before towing. I managed about 400)

Anyways, I only mention because it really shed light on my hyper-focus (critical?) of the ride quality in my CCD KingRanch Powerboost. Especially the non-towing ride. (described as "empty)

Let's just say that it is impossible for me NOT to notice just how nicely I actually have the F150 dialed in, once you have a comparison like the F350 ???

I've been messing around with my Forscan CCD settings for my 2024 F150 King Ranch

I don't know if I'm doing it wrong (I don't think I am) but I've come to the conclusion I don't think any of my changes actually have an effect on the CCD in my 2024.

There are some other Forscan mods that work on 21-23 f150s that do not work on 2024s. I'm wondering if CCD mods are one of them.

Had the truck since January, and the end result is that I'm only happy when I'm driving in sport mode. No matter what changes I make in Forscan I despise the sloppiness in regular drive mode. It's gotten to the point where I'm probably going to go with a CCD delete kit and switch over to Bilsteins or Fox shocks.

Mainly I'm just pissed and bitter at Ford. If they just let users select suspension separate from drive modes for CCD I'd be happy as a clam. But just can't do it.

That's interesting.
Have you noticed anything different in the VDM Asbuilt layout on your truck vs what the Forscan spreadsheet shows?

And have you compared your factory values for your 2024 against a previous year model?

Just looking for a clue why it isn't responding. I'm not saying that the difference was night & day, but it's not so subtle that you wouldn't notice.

Regardless, before you nix CCD altogether, have you tried any of the other approaches to addressing the underdamped "slop"?

I know RAS isn't inexpensive, but it does give you a secondary analog tunable damper. Not exactly what it is marketed for, but it's physics are real.

Also curious what you think about the Tow Haul CCD damping logic. I've been towing so much over the past few months that I keep switching to that mode even when not hitched. I've gotten rather fond of both the CCD mode and the 10r80 shift strategy.

My first 2.5 miles every time I leave home is on a deteriorated county road (asphalt) and Tow Haul is just a better ride and a better cold-start driving experience.
