I put my payload settings back to stock values and applied @bmwfrk 's settings in the as-built data this morning. Was easy to do now that my FORscan learning curve is about there. :)

I drove the truck around quite a bit after the changes. Bump roads, dips in the road, grade changes pulling in and out of parking lots etc. Simply put, it's awesome! The truck feels very planted and sure-footed so to speak. Noticeable improvement over the simple method as the suspension feels so balanced now, and SO MUCH better than stock.

For the last two years since I picked up the truck, I regretted checking the CCD box on the order form. Now I'm glad I have it! I should not have waited so long to dive into FORscan to adjust the settings.

I'm anxious to tow my enclosed car trailer this summer. I may even stiffen things up even more when towing, we'll have to see how compliant everything feels.

Thanks to all who contributed, offered advice, and shared their settings & testing!
Awesome. Glad it worked it worked out. I'm sure people will need to make changes depending on their use cases. I still need to install my sway bar and will probably need to adjust things back a touch. If you're carrying much weight in that trailer you may want to consider the RAS setup like Snakebitten

I have been debating getting the RAS or Timbrens for my setup. My trailer is heavy, right at ~9500lbs fully loaded. I have Weigh Safe WDH setup which is AMAZING. My truck is very close to level when towing, maybe just a hair down in the rear.

I am impressed how the truck handles it, but I do get some porpoising with big dips in the road. Will have to see how it feels with the suspension stiffened up and figure out what's best for my setup.

I love reading that you are now thrilled with CCD after regretting it. It just goes to show that the technology itself is very sound and of great value, but if Ford (any manufacturer) doesn't follow through with deploying that technology properly........ Well, it's just a shameful waste of potential.

As for adjusting your settings for towing, I considered that myself. But for me, I felt adding some analog tow assist made more sense. RAS is totally adjustable. It can be dialed out for running empty, and then dialed in specifically for the load you put on the rear suspension. In this case, the rear leaf springs. In fact, I look at RAS as an additional adjustable damper for the spring. Better yet, a spring "tuner" that adjusts the spring, while CCD adjusts the damping of the spring.

Running empty, I barely have it tightened enough to keep the assembly bound enough not to move or rattle. Basically, using a lift measurement to go by, it lifts the rear of the bed about 1/4".

When you follow the manufacturers towing recommendations, the empty bed would be raised by a full inch or more. (if you study how RAS works, you see how it pre-loads/arcs the Leaf pack, which results in lifting the bed)

Edit: the previous 2 posts were published while I was typing.....

Yeah, RAS does not take the place of a properly configured WDH. But it absolutely has some overlap with the forces in play of a WDH. So you can think of using a RAS adjustment, after you have the WDH applied, as "dialing in" the WDH for minor +- adjustments.

I know how we must sound to the average truck owner. ????

Using software/laptop
Antisway bar
RAS
WDH

All to get our 1/2 ton trucks to pull/carry various loads in the most perfect balance possible. Nerds. ?

Yes, we are truck nerds! :D

Appreciate the reply @Snakebitten the RAS is probably the right move for me considering my use case. I do not have a desire to raise the unloaded ride height, as these max tow trucks have a good rake to them already. I did not consider dialing out the RAS when running empty. I do see they are fairly easy to adjust. It would just be one more thing added to my towing routine.

RAS combined with my CCD adjustments could be the ticket!

Purchase 2 22mm(?) open end wrenches and wrapp them in a nice shop towel to keep them quiet. Store under rear passenger seat storage.

It's fairly easy to put "a round in/out" with the two wrenches. Or it gets easy to do after you've done it a couple of times.

And I'd imagine that you will arrive at a repeatable recipe after some research-testing. Like " 7 rounds for the RV with empty water tank"

The only complaint I have is if the tires are nasty wet or muddy. Because your upper chest is resting/leaning into the top of the tire. Oh, and you have to take off your cowboy hat because there isn't room for it in the wheel well.

bmwfrk (or Snakebitten),

I'm curious, why did you decide to leave the last values (RL & RR tire mass) at 750kg instead of bumping those up as well to 1080?

A long time ago, but I believe that I did in fact bump those up by the same 20%, but since the Ford factory Asbuilt values were less "mass" for those 3 entries, I didn't adjust them to match either.

I'm in southern California and would like to find someone to adjust my CCD suspension. Does anyone know of a shop that can help me out?

Testing Update! I did a bit more driving, back to back switching from stock settings, to changing the payload, to changing the Asbuilt values.

I am now confident that changing the Payload in the simple edits vs. changing the Asbuilts are not at all equal.

Changing the Payload - Creates a stiffer response to the initial impact of a bump or pot hole. While this does improve the drive some, it doesn't help as much with calming the "rebound" after the initial impact. Changes in the Payload setting have less of an affect overall (see my values in the previous post, up to "10,000 kg". Its clear in both of these cases that the weights are fictitious which has been previously discussed.

Changing the Asbuilts - Creates a stiffer response to the initial impact but also greatly reduces the rebound, or continued vibrations felt after an impact. For me these edits are far superior in ride quality. These settings are also much more sensitive to change. I increased @Snakebitten values by another 20% and achieved a much firmer ride while still being comfortable in multiple use cases.

Overall this makes sense if we are to believe Ford/Forscan guru descriptions. The Asbuilt values all relate to unsprung weight, while the Payload would be above the springs. The CCD system is definitely a dynamic algorithm that adjusts as you drive. Maybe not as advanced as the "preview" version that comes on the Expeditions but it's still taking in sensor data and adjusting response.

Here are my current values (remember the HEX values all need a '0' (zero) in front). YMMV, for reference this is on an 2023 Limited (short bed). The previous owner put on Nitto Grapplers which are no doubt much heavier than stock or street tires. My Payload is back at stock value (598 kg).

Thank you @bmwfrk! I have a 2024 F150 Plat short bed and looking to start playing around with the CCD. Based on your # I have created a "map" to go by on what needs to be changed. Do this look correct or am I way off?

Be Aware -

The template here has the "RL Wheel and Tire Mass" and "LL Wheel and Tire Mass" as being lower values then all the others.

my 2024 King Ranch with Max Tow package As-builts had all values set to O2EE (750 kg) before I made any changes. So when I made my changes, all fields were the same increased value.

Thanks for the reminder, yes all of my cells As-Builts are also 02EE. So if I'm reading you right you changed 02EE to 03E8 (1000kg). Since our values where all the same include the Rear wheel tire mass you increased those to the 03E8 where Snakebittens values where different from the other rows?

Here is my original As-Builts:

So I did change my values to several different values for some trial and error. I ended up sticking with the 1000kg values. I drove several different roads from pot hole city roads to interstate highway. I do have to say I'm impressed on the difference it has made. Definitely tighten up the ride especially the rebound but yet very comfortable. Thanks to all of you!

Has anyone here done much testing in eco mode? I've been running around recently testing at 900 kg(snakebittens values), and decided to try eco mode for a while. The results have surprised me. In eco mode it feels like the suspension is a little bit softer, but at the same time I'm noticing a lot less of the rebound effect caused by small bumps, potholes, train tracks etc. This is completely contrary to everything else I have seen so far. Typically increasing these values and stiffening the dampening improves the rebound effect.
