2021 Issues W/Remote Tailgate and Keyless Door Lock

Have always had these issues. 50% of the time my remote tailgate release doesn't work. Two presses of the tailgate button, hazards flash once then nothing happens. So the truck is getting the signal, just nothing is happening. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

The other issue is getting out of the truck, and touching the little black button to lock the doors. sometimes it takes several seconds for it to recognize my finger. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

no help, but you're not alone. I find the remote tailgate release from the fob is sketchy if you arent within a few minutes of opening a door or shutting off the truck. mine usually beeps and sits there too. I have had the experience of if I leave the gate down and the truck parked for more than 5-10 minutes, it wont go up via remote no matter how many times I press, but if I use the button on the gate it will.

but even doing a release from closed it will sometimes do the same thing you experience, not sure why. the truck is in a clear area, not like a sensor thinks it will hit a wall or something.

as for the touch commands, there are times I can walk up to the truck, fob in pocket by itself, no other metal to interfere, and no matter how much I yank the handle it wont recognize me. So when I get out I push the bottom two buttons on the keypad to lock. not the little black one on the door handle because its flakey

My 2022 is the same. Key fob and or tailgate button plus lifting the gate slightly doesn’t always engage the motor. This is one I’m kinda annoyed by but kinda learned to live with it. 80 grand for a truck and you’d think these stupid issues would be a “non-issue” but they are

I had the problem with the touch button on the handle not working and having to touch it several times. It was so annoying. I have replaced the fob battery and haven't had any problem since. I hope that helps.

Im having these same issues. Tailgate won’t always go down but tail light will flash once. Did you guys determine anything from this thread? I’ve had my truck to the dealership twice and they are puzzled.

Do you have a spray in bed liner?

I had a few issues with my power tailgate, first it would latch and not cinch tailgate completely closed. Service replaced hinges, fixed the latch and cinch issue but then it would release/unlatch from remote or button inside. It would take 4-5 attempts before it would release. The master tech ended up shaving a little material off the bump-stops because with my spray-in bed liner the bump-stops seemed to be binding it. I was skeptical it would work but It did fix the release issues and has worked great since.

I do, but the dealership already re torqued the tailgate "rod?" or something thinking it was getting hung up on something but that didn't help. The checked for any obstructions.

Hey! Did you maybe solve your issue? I also have an F150 2021 Lariat and have a similar issue. The tailgate doesn't open when using the keyfob but the button on the left side of the steering wheel works like a charm. Tried a few things but without positive results.
