OK, Since Ford seems totally uninterested in fixing a factory defect, who should we turn to? Consumer groups? State Attorneys General, Private attorneys, Better Business Bureau? We seem to be stonewalled by Ford on this issue that is 100% their's to solve and fix.
Ford said the first quarter of 2025, so I expect to hear something by the end of the day. It does seem odd that is has taken this long. I think we turn to @Snakebitten, who has an unofficial fix for this issue.

It's absolutely UN-official!!!

But so far, so good.
I'm currently towing a little toy hauler on a ~2500 mile run. When I get home, I'll change the oil, rotate the tires, remove my UN-official bolts and check for any fretting or loss of press-fit on the splines. Be happy to update.

Do parts finally exist? I didn't think this day would ever come.... Got a Carfax recall update notification and it's now showing parts available on NHTSA....

If true; hasn't made it to dealers yet, had a conversation with a very confused service guy who says Ford hasn't updated them since last June....

As of this moment there's no further detail or new / updated technical information on the NHTSA website ..... methinks we need to chill-out for at least a few more days to see what develops, hopefully we'll soon see new tech documents along with dealer notification describing a true final remedy posted at the NHTSA wepage linked above.

No doubt Dorman was aware (industry connected) of the TSB redesigned axle and did what their specialty is. Even beat Ford to the line.

It'll be nice to put this whole thing behind us. Obviously I'm in no hurry to get to the front of the line, but I will eventually get the new axles when I have some excuse to let the dealership have my keys.

Them fixing the axle is about the only excuse I can think of to actually give them my keys…

And given Ford has been offering essentially the exact same max tow axle up until now, I expect the scope of the recall to change.

Given that I've not suffered a bolt-break I've expressed similar sentiment about not rushing to get whatever final remedy might be offered.

But I'm interested to see the full text of the May 2, 2025 instructions to dealers which will likely soon be posted on the NHTSA recall webpage.

IF those instructions show that ....
  • the final remedy parts delivered to dealers are the 'nutted' shafts pre-assembled on new hubs
  • the final remedy only requires VIN-confirmation of eligibility (without the delay of photo confirmation of a problem before getting parts)
...... well, given my recent positive experience with my dealer fixing 3 other recalls .... I just might be inclined to be an 'early adopter' to indeed put this whole thing behind me. I know from discussion with the service advisor that they've now got plenty of experience doing the straightforward axle / hub assembly-swaps under the interim remedy.
