Hello everybody!

I know there are multiple threads about the battery drain issue and I went through most of them.

I am also a victim of the battery drain but not as bad as some of the guys stated on their posts.

Truck's battery is roughly 2 years old and the state of charge is hovering around 48-50% SOC. The first thing to go is the auto start-stop function, under the IPC menu it's always saying "engine on due to vehicle charging". My commute to work is roughly about 30 minutes, mix of hwy/city. Sometimes if i do longer runs the auto start-stop works or if i put the battery on a charger overnight, it works for a few days and then it goes back into not working.

I have an appointment next week at the dealer for some warranty work and i want to ask them to replace the battery with a new one, hopefully under warranty.

If they don't, i was wondering if i could replace the battery with a bigger one, instead of the 720ah, get an 800 or 850.

Has anyone replaced the battery with a bigger one ?

Thank you!

Don't know if this applies to the 2.7 assembly line... There have been many entries about the Powerboost batteries. I had a brief series of "Service Electrical System" warnings on the road. Stopped and checked the actual system voltage with a Volt meter and all was actually fine. Given some important travels in the offing I pulled in to a nearby NAPA store and purchased a replacement battery. Kept the OEM battery and when I got back to my dealer, had them test it: Tested just fine. Still I have concluded that Ford had a bad batch of batteries. Note that I have not had a single peep out of the replacement battery & electrical system. So-o-o my thinking says just go out and get a new battery. I am partial to NAPA because I once bought a NAPA battery on the island of Guam. When the truck had been shipped back to the states that battery later failed and the local NAPA dealer made good on it no sweat... :)

My truck is just like yours, it's an early 21 build that sat on the "Chip Shortage Lot" and the battery SOC is around 45-55% Stop/Start only works if I charge the battery but only last a few days. 25 mile commute just doesn't seem long enough for the electrical system to get a full charge.
I just bought this H7 battery from Costco. You can fit up to an H8 but that takes up the WHOLE battery tray and I didn't want that.

I have the 5.0 and had the same issue for about 6 months. Start/stop stopped working and after about a day it would go into deep sleep mode. Had a mobile tech come out to my house to change the oil. He tested my charging system and said there wasn’t a problem with it, but my battery was a little low. I said that’s fine, but that would mean my battery would be the problem if the charging system was fine. They said I’d have to take my truck in for further investigation. I get a call later that afternoon saying they’d come back out and replace the battery and fix the wiper motor recall. My start/stop now works. Of course they stayed with the smaller battery. I was hoping they’d go bigger.

I think you just gave me what I need to show the dealership next week. My battery is identical to yours despite that my truck is a lariat. Based on the 2022 build data it should have been an 800 and not a 760.

Just to confirm, where can I find the build book for 2021?

Ang, Just a FYI I have a 21 Lariat 2.7 with a 760 rated battery as well. I haven't had any issues but just went to check the size after reading this thread.

It's the same spec for 2021. This basically says that the battery in my truck is the wrong one. Let's hope that the dealer will honour this and replace the battery. I feel like my truck is eating the current one for breakfast

Hey I noticed my auto start stop is gone now too on my '21. Is there a way to test at home without going to the dealer?

Also—I'm about to hook up a winch with 5/16th terminal connectors. Where should I mount those? There aren't obvious connection points on the post adaptors. I've never hooked up accessories to the battery. The winch will draw about 400A at max.

The Auto stop/start on my 2022 Lariat 3.5 Ecoboost recently stopped working. I got it new in December of 2021 and it has 24,000 miles on it. I also had started receiving FordPass messages about going into deep sleep to save power. My truck came from the factory with a 760 CCA battery.

When I dropped it off for warranty service I mentioned to the service advisor that Ford’s build information indicated it should have a 800 CCA battery. He assured me he would check on this.

After having my truck 2 days for testing, he told me 760 CCA was correct and that’s what they installed.

After picking Up my truck I noticed the Alexa was no longer working. Auto stop/start was fine. I attempted every trouble shooting solution but could not get it back working until I disconnected the negative battery terminal For a few minutes.

Hopefully this new battery will work for another 24,000 miles!

*UPDATE*

I took my truck in to the dealership yesterday for some warranty work and mentioned the battery.

According to them, they can't replace the battery with a higher 800 CCa as the truck didn't come with one from the factory.

They did however replace the battery under warranty since it was less than 2 years old and it failed their tests. There was a mention that a batch F150s came with bad batteries and Ford will warranty-replace them.

Start/stop works as it did before and no more deep sleep notifications.

My battery on a 22 f150 with 1400 miles died twice on me. But It only started after I added OEM ODB2 Thinkware dashcam. So not sure if battery or not. Tomorrow I am going to my shop to get new wheels and tires installed and will have them test the battery.

While waiting 15 months to get my Platinum PB, did lots of reading on this site about battery problems. Had it over a month now with 600 miles and it came with 800A AGM battery. I don’t drive much weekly since retired except for long vacation type trips but indications are it needs a weekly charge if sitting or just driving short distances.

First thing I did is buy NOCO Genius 5A Smart Car Battery Charger with additional NOCO GC008 X-Connect M10 XL Eyelet Terminal accessory for permanent connection to battery. Once a week the NOCO gets plugged up as weekly battery maintainer so I can be hopefully assured of a little or no battery problems. That NOCO is sweet and easy to use with the snap connections without having to raise the hood.

guess they cant read the spec sheet, you got a truck with a non spec battery easy peazy imo
but at least they got a new battery for you.
