I have a 2021 King Ranch and love everything about the truck except for the drivers seat.

It's too small and I can't get comfortable. I'm not a huge guy - 6'2", 250 pounds - but not tiny either. I've measured the seats from previous year trucks and the 2021 is smaller with more taper in the rear. While driving in a comfortable position (for me), my left cheek is barely off the edge in the rear and the left edge of the seat hits me mid-thigh moving forward. The area closest to the bottom of my knee (actual knee extends way past the seat edge) is completely off the seat to the left. It almost feels as though the huge console is pushing me to the left?

It's absolutely miserable. My truck has 1200 miles on it and I'm ready to dump it. I've visited my dealer and been behind the wheel of a 21 XLT. The cloth seat feels a little better, but still small. They don't have a 40/20/40 in stock, so I've not been able to compare it to another seat configuration. I've also owned three rangers since 2019 and I was much more comfortable in the Ranger seat.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

That’s crazy if they’ve made them narrower, I wonder if it’s something to do with accommodating the fully reclining seat option?

I have a 34” inseam and the cloth 40/20/40 seats are fine depth wise. I can’t help much with the width because my waist is 32” but I really wish that you could still get true bench seats. I don’t plan on slaloming this truck or taking it to the track.

I drove a ‘09 Honda CRV around for a bit a few months ago while I was rebuilding it and the seats were absolutely miserable for me. I felt like I was balancing on a milk crate because my legs weren’t resting on the seat at all, they were full power adjustable seats too, they just weren’t big enough. If I drove it more than a few miles, I could feel my hamstring starting to cramp up.

I wonder if taking the truck to an upholsterer and having them take the seat bolsters out would help?

If demand is truly as high as they say, you might be able to get rid of it and break even.

The back of the seat is fine, the base is the issue. Kinda weird really. We've considered removing the bolsters, but I doubt I'll go that route. I hate to mess with the factory seat knowing that I'll truly never be satisfied with it.

I'll get in a 40/20/40 to see how it fits.

I’m 6’3” 230. I have to say that I find the front seat to be very comfortable. I’m not experiencing any of the issues that you mention.

I don’t for a second discount how you feel, though. Must be very frustrating to be uncomfortable while at the wheel. It would drive me nuts.

I have noticed how comfortable the seats are buy coming form a f250 they are smaller for sure, and the front part does not come up high enough vs the full size ford i came out of.

Took the truck to the dealership today. The owner, two salespeople and the service manager all agreed there was an issue with my seat. They’re thinking it was installed improperly and possibly turned slightly to the right. The seat cushion could possibly be undersized too.

We got in several other trucks and none had an issue similar to mine. All of those seats fit well and we’re comfortable.

The owner made a call to a Ford rep while I was there and they’re working on a resolution. I don’t know if this means anything, but they referenced my truck as a really early build.

Glad to hear it’s an actual issue. I’m sure Ford will get you a new seat. Well hopefully.

I am 6'2" 215-220lbs. I have broad shoulders and I found the Lariat seats super comfortable albeit I only test driven them, my truck isnt here yet. I personally felt like the Ranger was much less comfortable and I literally cannot stand the Nissan Frontier (even though I drove one my teenage years, if I get on one now I feel like my shoulders are super restricted.

As mentioned on another post, I’m glad this topic has been brought up. I’ve experienced the same issue. I feel like the seat is sliding me to the left and there’s not enough room for my left leg. It’s a weird feeling and when I hopped into my old 2011 KR the same day, the seat was perfect and firm. I’ll have to take some measurements later after this crazy cold weather passes.

I wonder if it’s an Issue exclusive to the King Ranch? The KR seat design is a little different from all the others. I’ve been inside every trim level.

Have you found a solution to this issue? I just took delivery of my truck and I'm experiencing similar problems. The hard piping on the left bottom bolster keeps digging into my thigh that makes is very uncomfortable. I had a 2017 F150 and the seats were very comfortable for me.

Mine is a Lariat with 40/20/40 so it's not a problem with the King Ranch trim.

My solution was to get rid of the truck! Ford basically did nothing. My dealer was great and gave me back every penny I paid. Ford's customer service was horrific. It drug on for months and kept getting assigned to other representatives.

Ford screwed the pooch with some of the seats, period. I've been in several others and taken measurements. I've compared them to previous model years and the 21 seats are definitely smaller.

Reviving an old thread here, but I'm a new owner with the same complaint about the hard piping. The way I sit, it digs into my right thigh pretty hard. I came from a GMC Canyon which I'm sure had narrower seats, but there was no hard piping to poke my thighs. Any chance you have gotten used to this and don't notice anymore?

FYI, I'm about 6'3" 230lbs.

I'm a big guy with a Limited, and I noticed that yes, my first sit has me a little off to the left of the seat, but if I reposition myself, I'm fine. I do not have the fully reclining seats.

That KR is long gone. Worst seat ever. Mine had issues. I have a 2022 Tremor now and the seat is much better, but they’re still on the smaller side. 2” additional width in the bottom seat cushion would make all the difference.
