Not sure if this is good or bad for us. If the plants are at full capacity, chips could be going into vehicles on the line instead of ours sitting in a remote lot. I guess we will see.
That is my concern too. I was more optimistic when all resources were going toward clearing the backlog, not adding to it.

Earlier this month, the Detroit Free Press reported the automaker had sourced a supply of chips that would allow it to ship thousands of trucks to dealers and keep production lines going. Now, Automotive News reports that Ford is discussing an idea with dealers to ship trucks before the chips are installed. Any dealers receiving such vehicles would get training for service staff on how to install the hardware, and repayment for nearly an hour's worth of labor for each repair. This is only an idea for now, and if it became reality, only dealers agreeing to the plan would receive unfinished trucks.

Only an Hour to install the needed Chips

"[T]raining for service staff how to install the hardware..." Heck, I can't even get the service staff to do the driveshaft recall!

They obviously didn't choose the dealer installation option, but it is helpful to know it only takes an hour per truck.

FWIW, my delivery date per the Ford tracker just got pushed from 2/23 to 2/24.
The tracker is now showing that my truck was delivered yesterday (i.e., 2/22)!

I got this email from Chip at granger today, does anyone know if there’s a way to track this?

It is on its way from Dearborn to Kansas City, traveling through Michigan. Convoy # 2260649 is the rail car number I have. It's got to get to Kansas City before they can ship it to us.

1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say CN (or whatever initials you have) then wait for the next prompt.
4. When prompted for the car number, say 907048 (or whatever your number is)
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.
6. That's it; enjoy your updated status report.

I was curious if anyone that hasn't been notified that your Truck has been built, has received the Activate button on your Fordpass. Maybe it's an indication that the Chips have been installed.

No movement for me. Gotta think my truck is 10 deep in a lot somewhere covered in snow waiting for who knows how many chips. Beginning to get really frustrated with the lack of movement and communication from Ford.

The good news is that each row is only 8 deep, so maybe you are in the middle at #4 or #5. Lol

My activate button populated late Friday, and I showed a delivery date of 3/22. Then on Monday delivery date moved to 3/23. Still no built notification, shows still in production. My guess is chip(s) installation triggers the above. I reckon still waiting to spray in bed liner, add retractable cover, and install wheel Wells. Or could be waiting for additional chips. My build is a fully loaded Platinum hybrid

Am I the only one that has the activate button but delivery date still showing in June?

this is getting depressing.

and I’m only feeling the pain more because I’ve already sold My truck and have been sharing a car with my wife. Brutal!

I have my activate button and am showing may still. I also sold them back my truck when I ordered. Hopefully it ends up updating soon for everyone.

After not checking the status of my order for a month, I finally sent an email yesterday to Chapman Ford requesting a VVR screenshot. The screenshot shows a Primary Status as of Jan 25 is In Production with a Secondary Status as Produced. The ETA columns show a Start Date of May 26, an End Date of May 22, and a Disposition of Micro Chip At Plant On Hold.

The real shame of it all is the VVR reflects the first Scheduled Build Day was Dec 3. Disappointing to say the least. ?

Edit: Forgot to mention - No activate button in FordPass, of course.
