I got 5% off invoice at my local dealer in May without any back and forth, so what Granger is offering is nothing special. Ford dealers cannot sell these trucks in any sort of timely fashion. Many are about to have three model years of them for sale on their lots when the MY25s start arriving...
30 year fed. Procurement analyst. This particular administration has burned me out with their nonsense initiatives (so-called climate crisis, DEIA, gender bending, etc, etc). Three years until retirement (praise be to Jesus). Can't get here soon enough.
Driving style is everything. I have a 5.0, but I track every tank (18 so far as of this post). My worst tank was 16.19 mpg and my best was 26.24 mpg. Guess which one was strictly short trips into town with a little bit of hooning from lights, and which one was a straight interstate trip up...
For sure, with 3.31 and a light right foot, the 5.0 will feel like a dog. It does with 3.73 as well if you just lug around. Using the throttle like you mean it and in sport mode with 3.73, the 5.0 is a blast to drive, and the sound is a symphony, especially with a nice aftermarket exhaust to...
What would get me off the fence is if Toyota started selling a Tundra Classic with their bulletproof 5.7L (and sold it at a sensible price; not $70K). Boringly reliable is how I like to roll. I love my 5.0, but I can almost hear the Ford gremlins hammering away at the rest of the truck...
I'm sorry you're dealing with this with a brand new truck. That really sucks.
I haven't had any codes through 9,300 miles so far, but I did notice three drips of adhesive/glue, about an inch long each, at the upper left (driver) corner of the inside of my windshield (looked like a crow's...
Man, I'm glad I found my peasant truck (exactly what I wanted) on the lot. Built Feb 29 (a leap baby) and I took delivery May 4, a day after I started searching. I feel for your guys waiting a year. That's absolutely ridiculous, and your patience is admirable.
I was just asking if anyone had actually seen widespread wet belt failures in the F150 5.0's. I haven't seen any. I like to see evidence before drawing conclusions.
The video implied that wet belt problems are most prevalent in small displacement, boosted engines. The Coyote is neither.
These things have been in the F150 5.0's for four model years now. There have to be quite a few 2021s, especially fleet/work trucks, moving north of 100,000 miles by now. I haven't read of any wet belt failures. Did I miss them?
My best (26.24 mpg actual) and worst (16.19 mpg actual) tanks were just logged back to back on Fuelly (linked in my sig). The former was a pure highway tank from SC to DE at the end of vacation, and the latter was nothing but short trips into town with spirited acceleration! Lie-o-meter...
Ram discontinued the TRX for model year 2025. I live a half mile away from a CDJR dealer and their last TRX six months ago had a sticker of $109K. You could buy two Whippled F150s (granted, RCSB and pretty barebones) for less than that.
In reading other threads this week, they spontaneously combust less, and if they do catch fire for some reason, the fire can be quickly put out before the transmission melts.
Your family and pets (and innocent bystanders) will also not perish from toxic clouds.
