Addressing the rusty gorilla nuts, I have owned15 sets over the decades. I have never had the first bit of rust even with 200,000 miles or more on several vehicles. I live in Dallas which may make a difference. Don't know anything about the rust girdle other than I do not want to live there.

I don't think with your mileage this would have made any difference, but you need to be more regular with your oil changes going forward. I do Amsoil filters at 5k, and 5w30 oil changes at 10k. I never have oil consumption issues, even with 300,000 plus miles on multiple cars/trucks.
