Nice job, @Underwhere , and I'll admit that you have me thinking about it, because I experience the same issues (the energy draw from the phone is greater than what is replenished). It looks like this may be the port that you chose. If so, could you give me an idea of what the O.D. is of the face / head? (Of the dimensions supplied by the vendor, it doesn't give that dimension.) I've got an idea of retaining the OEM power port, and adding the USB-C PD port as an extra port altogether - if it will fit. I've still got one or two old-school accessories that use the traditional cigarette lighter plug, so I'd like to keep that power port. I reason that if I'm going to have to run an additional wire anyway, why not just add the PD port as an addition instead of a substitution.
I had considered that as well...but then thought that I really didn't need 4 separate USB-C's in the center console.

Here is the exact one I bought.

I don't know whether I mis-measured or what but the diameter of the hole needs to be 3cm or 1.18 inches.

And it was a perfect fit once the 2 indexing tabs were removed.

If you're going to add a second one, I don't think it'll fix next to the old one. You'll have to place somewhere else. I'm not sure how much room there is under the console and it's also secured by a lock ring. You'll need to get under there to tighten it.

I'll measure the OD of the face shortly.

My apologies for hijacking your own photo, but these are my thoughts: considering that there appears to be a fair amount of room on the sides of placement of the original OEM power port (red oval), I thought about maybe placing it somewhere in the area represented by the green oval (depending upon the face O.D.).

I believe there is room there. I can confirm as I still have a rubber o-ring that came with the new device that i can use as a template to cut the hole.

The issue I think would just be to confirm whether there is space underneath that platform for the device to stick down and have wires come out of it

11.9 volts is a concerning voltage - this is coming from a powerboost guy with the aux battery behind the rear seat and the extra considerations that must be taken for us powerboost people. just a heads up

It showed 15.1 when the engine was on.

Curious what your concerns are? I'm ignorant on what issues it could cause.

yeah 15.1 is good for alternator charging, but resting voltage below 12 is not considered normal as far as i can tell. Do you have a powerboost with the aux battery?
