False alarm. Ford issued alerts in error. Alerts deleted in app.

Wonder how many other received the alerts. Or am I just special? LOL

2021 F-150 PowerBoost

Last night received 4 alerts in the Ford app at the end of a 140 mile drive that are not active this morning.

The alerts were issued simultaneously for

  • Window One-Touch Open/Close
  • Wheel Alignment Warning
  • Wheel Vibration Warning
  • Check 12-Volt Battery
The most telling is that the battery needs to be charged or replaced. I’m replacing the battery today with a non-Ford battery. From reading the numerous threads on battery issues and replacements a H7 is the best size without modifying the battery compartment.

My questions are

  • Will any auto parts store, including big box stores, batteries be ok?
  • Need to charge the battery or is “out of the box” ok?
  • If the battery should be charged is bench charging better than after installation by the store?
In any case I’ll reset the BMS if the store doesn’t.

I understand best practice is to replace the auxiliary battery when I replace the 12-volt battery. I’ll wait until I get to Florida. Without a heated garage New England is just too cold to work outside in the backseat of my truck.

Thanks for your help.

I had the H8 added without modification, they originally only wanted to put in the H7 until I argued that I wanted the H8 1000CCA, it works great without modifying, it is a tight fit, but battery box holds it. FYI: they did put the H7 in first for fit and I had 2 1/2 " of space left, they said OK I guess it will fit, and put in the H8.

I'm partial to NAPA. When I went in and asked for a standard, catalog battery, they gave me an H-7. That was three years ago, not a peep out of the electrical system since. I'd do a "Wetting down" charge. A low rate long term charge, likely about 10 hours. Either bench or in place.

Your truck, unlike the OP's, is not a PowerBoost.

The OP's PB has a module located in the battery tray that precludes larger than an H7 without modification, yours does not have that module.

I just replaced my OEM with an Advnaced Auto Parts DieHard H7. 48 months free replacement 0 prorated. Didn't charge it, drove 3 miles to where we stayed and the next morning drove 470 miles home.

Sorry, missed the PB point
