Truck is three months old and about two weeks ago this started to show up. Tried to wash and scrub the area but not sure what else to do?

Looks like a spot that had a protective wrap on it during assembly. Residual glue? One of the best cleaners ever invented is WD40.

I will give that a try! The issue is all around where there isn't anything under the cowl. Maybe it being "soft", it needs some cleaning?

My only other concern is that the plastic reacted to the glue. Before doing anything drastic I'd get with the dealer about warranty replacement.

I had the same thing. I used Griot's Trim Restorer and it cleaned up in 30s. 303 would work also.

Update: problem not solved. Next time I washed it the discoloration was back, both sides.

Same thing on my truck since new, now 1500 miles. Every time it rains and drys it's white again. It appears to be a 2 component injection molded part. The harder material holds it's color but the soft or rubbery portion of the part was missing some chemical component in the process. You can wipe it off, but how long before you can't? It's not going to last.. I'm ticked about it, 60k truck a month and a half old and it looks like it's 10 years old. I hear the dealer already " you did something to it" "you put something on it" "not Ford's problem" I'm not up for the fight! Obviously Ford is accepting crap parts from their suppliers. I don't know what to do, the cure could be worse than the problem. My dealership treats a 60k truck like it's a 73 Pinto...

I'll post pics in the morning.

Hey, I have the exact same thing! Have tried cleaning with a few different "back to black", "trim cleaner", "trim restorer" type products I have kicking around but nothing seems to last, the white lurgi comes right back ... be great if someone found a solution!

My 2006 F150 had a similar issue. I cleaned and cleaned some more. I quit trying for about 7 or 8 months and thought I'd give it one more shot. BIG mistake, they crumbled off into my hand.

I would try your dealer. Kind looks like some chemical got on it and your windshield trim. Could be a flaw in the production of it and you will need it replaced.

@flashtek @Lippy -

I noticed a similar issue on the cowl as I was prepping to ceramic coat my (then) 1 week-old truck. I used a similar high quality product (CarPro DLUX) and the issue went away completely. I proceeded to use it to protect all of my plastic.

I would also strongly suggest staying away from solvents and oils as they may well degrade the plastic - not restore and protect the plastic.

Thanks Madman! After I buy this product, does it come with a Gold Watch? LOL How often have you had to apply it?

I know, this stuff can get pricey pretty fast. I haven’t tried the Griot’s product that another member had referenced but their products are generally more affordable than CarPro’s products are.

According to the manufacturer, this product is good for up to 1 year. Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Took a quick photo ... noting that this rubberized piece with the white lurgi is (permanently?) attached to the main cowl, doesn't look like a separate piece that could be replaced. Also note that the same discoloration is present around the base of the windshield wiper arm.

I'm wondering if this discoloration is due to a cleaning agent or similar that was used when the windshield was replaced for the recall - can anyone else with this issue either confirm they also have the recall done. Or that they have the issue without having had the windshield recall?

Have that issue and have not had the Window Replaced with Recall Yet.
