Hi All,

My complimentary 3 year BlueCruise subscription is apparently ending soon. I have a '22 PB. I can't tell what version I have but I don't think it's the 1.4 because it does not handle lane changes (is there a way to look up the current version?).

What are my options? Is there a way to get a discounted extension of it?

I would much rather pay a (hopefully discounted) single lump sum for a multi-year extension. Annual and especially monthly payment is not appealing.

Can the dealerships like Zeigler or Granger Ford sell me an extension? Given their business model and no nonsense pricing, I'd think if anyone offered a discount it'd be them, but perhaps dealerships are not able to sell BC subs. If that's the case, is there any possibility of negotiating with Ford directly? I read somewhere that I can't find now that one should wait until just before or just after the subscription ends its free period to try to negotiate with Ford. Not sure if there's any truth to that advice or not.

Also, I saw that someone on this forum let it lapse and yet it kept working fully functional. I went in to check out the notice in the Ford app and I actually found this strange looking option for extending for one year for $0 (see image).

I don't want to go any further before I consult all you gurus on here, but it kind of seems too good to be true, however if it's some sort of promo and I should make use of it then I'll do that right away.

Thanks for any info or advice. I tried to search on here but couldn't find the answers I'm searching for. Apologies if this has already been answered before.

Looks like you got an additional year for free. I'd go with that for now and worry about it later.

I haven't followed through with that selection yet and the subscription end date is just in a couple weeks. If that's indeed what this is then I'll proceed with that selection in the subscription page.

Well I'll be darned, you were right! I wen the rest of the way through and it said I'd get another free year starting when the current one expires soon. I guess I have another year to figure it out for the long term!

I still wouldn't mind learning about how to find out what version of BC I'm running and also whether and how to finagle a discount for next year, assuming they don't extend it again. Thanks a ton for letting me know what was right under my nose. I swear this option wasn't there a couple months ago when I last looked.

Unless the dealer updated the IPMA, you are on BC 1.0.

They just supposedly updated all modules in the truck, as a part of a series of software issues I was having. Is that what you mean, a software update to a module called IPMA?

If the dealer updated the IPMA, then you have the BC 1.4 software and would need to enable the new features with FORScan.

Ugh... they don't make it easy do they? From what I recall I need a PC to make use of Forscan. I have the dongle but no PC I can make use of. Is this something the dealership would help me achieve or do they have a disincentive/policy of not wanting us to have the latest BC? The service manager is quite friendly to me, if that might be a factor.

I used all of mine on a Zeigler extended warranty. Now I'm thinking that might not have been a good value.

If you're near Houston you can come by my place and do it.

FORScan is not condoned by Ford. Even if it was or the dealer happens to use it anyway, unless the tech is on this forum, they won't know how to do it. I'm sure you know someone with a windows based laptop you can use if you aren't close to @Ajzride.

I'm nowhere near Houston, but that is very kind of you!

I know a very few people with PCs (I guess I'm in Mac country), and in each case it's their work computer and they're not very computer saavy to being with. So, I've been too concerned about installing software on their computer that I myself am not fluent in the OS of. I even keep the dongle in my truck in case I come across the right person or someone who has FORScan. BC 1.4 aside, the honk when shutting the door without my key fob inside drives me absolutely nuts and that is the one main thing I wish I could change using FORScan.

You can usually get away with using forscan to edit registers in a VM on a Mac. You can't run FDRS and update to BC1.4, but fixing the double honk should be okay. Check a program called UTM which offers emulation of x86 processors on apple silicon.
