I don't do social media, son. Sorry to disappoint you.

They blinked. I thought they were gonna stop our electricity, eh? Mr. ONTARIO Ford put his foot down into a steamy pile of "we don't need you".

And glad you think the stock market isn't manipulated either. Time to wake up. The whole thing is a game.

Should we talk about egg prices next? ??
MR. Ford has been invited to DC to negotiate. We'll see how that goes down. One thing DT has done is seemingly unify Canada in giving us a retaliatory middle finger. How it plays out will be interesting.

I do feel bad for my coworker who's retiring April 1st. Whatever hair he has left probably is on its last legs.

Something to consider is that the tariff is hit every time a part or piece comes over. So for anything that makes multiple trips over the border they will be tagged multiple times. Also that X post for Canadian tariffs has heavy implications that those are the only tariff values. Those high percentage numbers are once a certain amount of US goods are imported as a measure to not flood their own market with too many US goods. So the values are marginal after so much is imported, its not kicking off at *298%*.
If you're in exporting, are you going to set up to trickle goods in? A single train worth trips those triggers which were done intentionally. The whole "but yeah, they only trigger once you send a tiny fraction of business over" is hollow. They're really low limits so that people not too dissimilar than you can say "but they only kick in -----" as if to pretend they're not there.

Those tariffs artificially keep dairy products inflated roughly twice as much as US goods. There's a reason canadians near the border love to hit up Costco in the US. The washington store near the border does something like twice as much milk sales than any other store. The cheaper gas doesn't hurt either.

Dumping tariffs are one thing, protecting the dairy cartel is whole other matter.

Yay! Politics!!!

If only there were a million other places to have this fight!
There's always a few trying to inject it into the conversation, but I don't see anything of note.

The idea that we can't discuss economic issues is misguided. Wanting everything to be political doesn't make it so. Looks like movie reviews to me ?‍♂

So, going after and ridiculing people for what media they consume isn't political?

Interesting.

That was on me and then the other guy. My bad. But if you think the flow of information from a particular media source isn't relevant to the discussion, I'm afraid you're mistaken. Sources are ABSOLUTELY relevant to the topic.

I mean artificial inflation of imports is the entire name of the game of tariffs and it's been there use for some time. Now the justification behind it can vary but the end result is still the same. Our steel prices inflated after the 2018 tariffs but even the previous admin couldn't pull those back due to needing to keep the price up to keep jobs here. It's a interesting dynamic to artificially keep business profits up at the cost of your citizens paying more for products.

I'm just not sure this aggression to our closest trade partners is the best choice or why not attempt to renegotiate the USMCA. Sure the US "holds the cards" but straight strong arming people doesn't generally secure long standing healthy relationships.

And both sides of the media are 100% biased to serve their population. You view CNN and MSNBC as shit, and they are, but so is Fox and Newsmax.

It's all political theater. Neither side cares about you. They only care about enriching themselves.

I cannot overstate the truth in this. The lines of unbiased sources is incredibly blurred these days.

You can even find official gov committee websites that are laced with it while pretending to be partisan. Generally though there are always tells to figure it out if people care to do so.

I look at all media to collect data points, however the corporate press is just a mess. None of them are better than another. They're all trying to sell you something. They're pretty much irrelevant these days though as their viewership is literally dyeing off.
