There are a lot of posts on various forums and other sources about glue coming loose inside MC oil filters.
Has anyone experienced this and/or have any knowledge about it actually getting into the engine and causing problems?

I use nothing but WIX! USA made, NAPA Gold is now imported, don't know about NAPA Platinum. Gold used to be made by WIX. Motorcraft has been going down in quality for some time. Imported. For me the cost of a filter is immaterial given its function.

Back in the day....when the 2007 Shelby GT500s came out there were several post by engineers that did testing on various filters and their effectiveness. At that time the WIX and NAPA Gold came out on top by a long stretch. Having just taken custody of my 2008 every bit of info to provide longevity was looked at. Been in the WIX camp ever since on all my Fords!

Motorcraft filters are made by Purolator in Fayetteville, NC. Purolator is owned by Mann+Hummel which is a German company. They also own WIX.

So what usually happens is the glue that holds the end caps of the filter media fails and the end caps come loose. Its not like the glue turns to dust or chunks and sends it throughout the motor. Will it cause problems I would say probably not. The thing about it is where do you draw the line what's a quality filter? Is a quality filter one that has end caps where the glue come undone or one that doesnt.

Yes purolator makes the ford filter but other their other branded filters don't have this problem where the glue come loose from the end caps.

Your points are valid. That’s pretty much what I have surmised after reading tons of comments.
You are correct about other Purolator filters. I have not read any reviews about them having the same issues.

The Purolator Boss and Wix XP appear to be the same looking at some videos where they are cut apart.

When the Motorcraft filters changed to the socket style made me question whether they are still Purolator or not. Looks like the inside of a Champion at least on some.

I’ve read about how well constructed the BOSS filters are but there seems to be a lot of criticism about their less than ideal micron filtration rate

This guy says that they are really good.

I don’t like how the Motorcraft only has a few threads and I’ve had a couple not spin on well like the machining was lacking. Gonna try something different.

I’ve always been a Wix fan but a few years ago this article gave me some pause. Hopefully the buyout with Mann fixed the failures.

And if you think this is not relevant talking about Fords, a ton of old Toyota engines take the older thread style and were interchangeable with filters like the FL1A

I ran a Boss for one oil change and ended up doing some reading on BITOG about the iso 4158 or whatever standard they use to test filters. Long story short........the Boss is a rock catcher according to some very smart people. I decided to run a Microgard Premium from Oreillys (Carquest was another great option) after seeing that they are highly recommended and only cost $10 after rewards and discounts are factored in.

Six quarts of Restore and Protect with a filter for $40.......I'm not mad at that, one bit.

He is a hack according to people on BITOG that work in (or have a bunch of knowledge about) the filter industry. He did not use the ISO standard that most reputable filter companies are judged by.

I think you will find that the Purolator Boss, and WIX XP are identical internally. The description for each is nearly the same and made by the same company.

It’s this kind of stuff that makes me nervous about not using an OEM filter. And it seems like as time goes on with.BITOG, the information on there has become more vague with more differing opinions.

The best constructed filter/price right now is CarQuest Premium.
