Going to be installing this kit on my 2021 F150 RCSB with the 5.0 v8. Will be using the 2.5” setting. The wheels are Method 702s with 0mm offset. Looking at 285/75/17 tires. Which aftermarket control arms should I go with? I have Been looking at BDS and ICON. Any other options that would be better suited? Will be installing ADD front and rear bumpers so i am going with the 2.5” setting to compensate for the extra weight on the front . Thanks

I am installing the 6112's. Basically Same coilovers and my shop recommended SPC's or Icons. Icons have back spacing requirements. Cant remember them. I chose SPC. My tires are 285/60/20. 11.5 wide. I know SPC would work with OEM tires. OEM is +44 offset. I am running +18. My Back space is 5.71. with 11.5 was a go with Icon. +18 moves my tires out 1.82 inch. 0 offset if my math right is 2.4"/57mm

Edit: BDS should have about the same backspace requirements. People running 12.5" wide are the ones that have to be real careful. I can't speak for the height. I have a lot of clearance and I am currently running a 2" spacer.

Little confused on how offset and backspacing works.

Icon requires 5” backspacing and 6mm offset for their upper control arms.

My Method Racing 702 wheels have 4.75” backspacing and 0mm offset

Does that mean I have more room than is required? I feel like I always get it backwards.

I got my Ford Performance M-18000-F15BA leveling kit installed, truck rides great, less body roll around turns. Now I just need an alignment!

Before:
Front driver: 37 3/4"
Front passenger: 37 1/2"
Rear passenger: 40 1/2"
Rear Driver: 40 1/2"

After:
Front driver: 39 1/8"
Front passenger: 39 1/8"
Rear passenger: 40 1/4"
Rear Driver: 39 3/4"

The after measurement had a full 36 gallon tank of gas which may explain why its lower on the rear driver side.

What made you pick the ford performance kit vs. the Bilstein 5100 kit? It looks like you can get one that comes with replacement coils for almost 1/2 the price of the ford performance. I'm trying to decide between the two, curious your thoughts.

The Bilstein kit most similar to the Ford Performance kit is the Bilstein 6112. My guess is these two kits perform very similarly as they are both made by Bilstein, possibly with the Ford Performance kit having some minor tweaks.

The Ford Performance (6112) struts come pre-assembeled and easier/cheaper to install vs 5100.

Edit: I just saw your link. I didn't know that there was an option for pre-assembled 5100's, that may be a better option. I didn't really pay for it out of pocket because Ford reimbursed two of my vehicle payments via a gift card for my truck bring in the shop so long for a warranty issue related to the parking sensors.

I would expect it would be easier for the truck owner to do the swap or at least to pay half as much to have a shop do the work. That could make the Ford upgrade $200 cheaper than the Bilstein kit.

I got mine on a scratch and dent sale from stage 3 motorsports an it arrived in perfect condition (the box not so much) which made it less cost than the bilsteins and I didn’t have to buy a nicer reservoir mount. The bilsteins just come with a hose clamp type versus the billet aluminum clamp from Ford. The FP is slightly larger diameter and the dealership never questions anything for warranty work which makes it worth it to me.

Mine came with the clamp.

hey guys question. Just picked my truck up from the dealer had these put on. I’m impressed. I’ve had fox 2.0’s, 2.5’s, Falcons, Carli, etc and I’m very very Impressed with the ride quality. But I’m concerned and have never seen these installed upside down. Any one else have there’s like this?

My mechanic installed mine the same way, he stated that it's better for protection against dirt/debris. I don't disagree, but I had him remove them and reinstall them the proper way per the instructions.

Here is the before pic for reference before reinstalling them:

I would mount them in the orientation suggested in the instructions.

I don’t think it actually matters which side is up function wise on our type of suspension but I would still mount them according to the directions. I’d be more worried about something damaging the reservoir with it hanging low. If you flip them and are worried about dirt/damage you could put a boot or rock guard on. I prefer no boot because they just seem to gather dirt and moisture for me.

So the tech said he couldn’t get them mounted unless mounted upside down. Are they side specific or was he just retarded?
