If I use pennzoil synthetic and motorcraft FL500s filter, keeping dated receipt as record, is my factory warranty still valid? Or do I have to use the exact recommended oil in the manual?

Use FordPass, or Ford.com to add your service record. You can even add attached receipts. I add a picture of the odometer as well. Just because I can. :)

As for warranty, non-dealership oil changes probably make up the vast majority of oil changes.

Nearly all mainline oils meet specs so long as you use the correct weight of oil. The issue will be showing you actually changed it. So hang on to those receipts...

Great idea about the odometer pic. I will going to the Valvoline place by me and I will get a shot of that odometer too.

As long as the oil meets the ford spec its fine.

@Avalanche24PB, the Ford Spec for your engine oil is found in your Owner's Manual, the Capacities and Specifications section. It'll be a number like WSS-M2C961-A1 (<example for my 2022 3.5EB). Ideally, you'll find that specification number referenced on the bottle or manufacturer's literature for the oil you use.

Nearly all mainline oils meet specs so long as you use the correct weight of oil.
That's not been my experience.

For example, of the many different full-synthetic 5W-30 Mobil 1 oils, only Mobil 1 Extended Performance and Mobil 1 Truck & SUV are designated by Mobil as meeting the Ford Spec WSS-M2C961-A1 identified by Ford for my 3.5EB. This info is found in the detailed specs and certifications on the Mobil 1 website for each oil they offer.

Many popular big-name 5W-30 oils I researched don't offer the documented assurance of explicitly claiming to meet my Ford spec WSS-M2C961-A1. Not suggesting they aren't good oils or may not in fact perform up to that spec, they just don't offer the documented warranty compliance assurance of those which do.

I prefer that documented Ford spec assurance, go with what makes you most comfortable.

Thank you. Will have to dig into the details. Planned to use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum full synthetic

I had similar plans until I found that PUP did not have the Ford spec WSS-M2C961-A1 so I went with Valvoline Restore and Protect...

I change my own oil, from I have seen.
Dealerships put the new guy on oil changes.
I went on my ford pass.
Couldn't find how to add my own maintenance.
Please help

Well, I've read the labels of a bunch of them. If you read out the actual specs they meet Ford's.

That's surprising. Seemed like it was a very popular oil for F150's with ecoboost.

That's good, I didn't mean to suggest they aren't out there.

Just suggesting that folks consider looking for the particular Ford spec applicable to their vehicle before assuming (e.g. the mentioned Pennzoil Ultra Platinum re: WSS-M2C961-A1). Not to be confused with a general statement like 'meets Ford specifications' (begging the question: Which of Ford's many different oil specifications?).

At your home page you should be able to pick the vehicle. Then somewhere there, there is a "Service" tab and then you will see a link to add a service. I could not figure out how to upload any receipt scans or pics though. Good luck.

I'm going to try that.
Thanks, appreciated
