So mine has just started a slight shudder when I’m turning and starting to go from a stop. My truck skips 2nd gear almost every time I get going unless I’m flooring it. So wondering if it’s the hop from 1 to 3. The feeling is almost like when your turning with 4wd on but roads are dry....

to clarify, there is nothing earth shattering on mine, and I’m very nit picky so don’t let this scare anyone.Has def changed since first 1000 miles though.
1-3 skip is normal for normal driving.

idk if I gave my update here or not in this thread, but my fluid level was 3qts low. An update and fill at least fixed the shudder and weird oscillating vibration at 50-65mph. I still have some very rough shifting 1st through 5th, so Im not done yet. Also not real happy about getting the truck back with only the fluid filled instead of the damaged parts replaced.

Atleast they did something, I can't even get my local techs to acknowledge there's a problem...

I’m having a very similar sounding issue. It’s not a terrible clunk/shudder but it is very noticeable. I even realized the other day that I am unconsciously going very soft on the pedal when I am anticipating the shift to 3rd. This is a brand-new truck! ? Please post back if you get your issue fixed; I’ll provide any updates if I see improvement. Just for information, I typically drive in normal or eco modes; I haven’t really played with the other modes yet and am not sure if they would have an impact on the performance.
Did you ever get this truck fixed? If so, h
About a week ago I took my truck to a different dealer to see if they could replicate/diagnose the transmission shudder I still have. The tech did notice it, said it wasn’t normal, and opened a ticket with Ford. Once the dealer has a response from Ford I’ll be sure to pass it a long.
How did the shudder problem get resolved?

All I had to do was send in all my service invoices from the Ford dealers and the purchasing contract to the lawyer. The lawyer sent over a retainer letter that I signed.

They then sent a pre-lawsuit letter to Ford and a couple weeks ago sent the lawsuit stating my issues and the requesting a buyback or replacement.

The lawyer said it will probably take 60-90 days to hear back.
How did this lawsuit go? Did you ever get the truck fixed? If so, what fixed it?

I bought a 2021 Lariat used with this shudder problem. Dealer is denying that there is a problem.

Good afternoon Jason! Could you please send over a message with your VIN and dealership information? I will look into this concern for you.
I have this same issue with my 2021 Lariat that I just bought used in July of 2024. This problem transcended to me from the used car market because Ford isn’t fixing the problem. It is the result of people trading their defective vehicle off which eventually gets to be re-sold to others who are unfamiliar with the problem. JUST LOOK AT THIS THREAD.

Hello. I have a 2022 XLT powerboost 3.5L. I get a rumble slight groan sound at highway speeds going into an incline with slight throttle. Its the most prominent in 10th gear, moderate in 9th and very slight in 8th. I haven't heard it below 55mph. I Don't really feel a shake, or a lack of performance. It typically occurs when the truck is maintaining gear. If I hit the gas hard, and the truck downshifts or even just has heavy acceleration, it does not occur. It sounds like blowing over an empty bottle for approx. .5-1 second. It does not occur going down hill only inclines from what I can tell. The same circumstances off highway in lower gears it does not occur. I asked the dealer about TSB 22-2224 and they said they could not perform it as my truck already has the "updates". I don't even know what that means. Any advice?

It's the same groan I make when my thighs burn riding my 10-speed in 10th gear uphill. ?

Seriously, while I can't tell you exactly what might be generating the sound, I am absolutely convinced you are hearing mechanical strain created by load vs gear ratio.

I'm actually campaigning for locking out gear ratios that I believe are stressing the components of our trucks at low speeds regarding the ratio.

Or put another way, pretend your truck had 3 pedals. Would you seriously have already shifted to overdrive at 40mph?

8th, 9th, 10th gears are all overdrive.

There was a time when we didn't even have an overdrive ratio on our trucks. ?

Try this just as an experiment.....
Use Sport or Tow Haul mode, but just drive normally. No reason to drive any more aggressively in Sport Mode just because Ford labeled one of the shift strategies with the word "Sport". (the power of suggestion is hilarious sometimes. Sport Mode is nothing to do with "tuning". It's JUST a different shift strategy. And in my opinion one that far more accurately represents when someone would shift if the vehicle was a standard transmission)

i have heard the noise in sport mode but not as often haven’t tried tow haul. And while I appreciate your Responses I have to be honest I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I was kind of looking for a yes or no and got a story about something. Else lol. Like you said to do an experiment but didn’t explain what I should be looking for

No worries. :)

I have a tendency to ramble, in case you don't know.

Also a bit of a Powerboost/Ecoboost/10r80 nerd. I love touching all the buttons and figuring out what is going on. And I monitor a considerable amount of PIDs/parameters to see what is affected by the buttons and choices I make.

Then I share. Thus I ramble.
