Hello,

I just moved up to an F-150 STX from a 2022 Ranger XLT. I loved the Ranger and wanted to stay loyal to it but I had so many issues from mold in the cab from leaking rear cab vents, AC blower needing to be replaced but the biggest was the CDF issues with the 10R80 transmission. The dealership tried to get Ford to replace the transmission but Ford only allowed the CDF drum to be replaced. The transmission was better but still shifted hard with 3-4-5th gear.

The F-150 is great so far and the transmission is working flawlessly. The 5G Ranger forums were great and very informative. Looking forward to learning from you guys too.

Thanks ?

Welcome
All ford vehicles built before a certain date have CDF issues when fitted w/ 10r80. It wasn't unique to the ranger.

Yes, across the board. I was unfortunate with mine and had a coworker that had zero issues with his Ranger. Both were built on the same month.

I was very happy with the F-150 when I test drove it. Also, the deal I was able to negotiate with the dealer was pretty good. 13k less than MSRP and got running boards and spray in bed liner free to close the deal.

Welcome! I also moved up from a Ranger.

Other than its physical size in a parking lot, I do not miss it.

I went from a 2020 Ranger XLT to a 2021 F150 STX. I like both vehicles. I'm glad I upgraded to the F150, because a year and a half later, my wife and I decided to purchase a larger Airstream.

The funny thing about the Ranger? When I traded it, I was in the dealership for an oil change. An individual was in looking for a blue Ranger 4x4 but could not find one....anywhere. There were so few Rangers at that time. The manager texted me while waiting for the oil change, and asked if I wanted to trade my ranger for another ranger. I said, "You have zero on your lot." A few minutes later, she texted me and said "you're right. How about an F150?" And I said, "I am almost paid off, and don't want to pay a penny more for than what I owe, and you can't do that for what I'd want." Her response was simply LET US TRY. Well, I now have an F150. To be honest, it rides more smoothly than the Ranger, and gets about the same fuel economy, but it pulls our 23' Airstream like a beast.

The Ranger is a rough ride that’s for sure. I’m getting better MPG so far with the F150 too.

Glad you’re happy with it and got a good deal.

2021 F150 Lariat 2.7
A year ago when I was looking at trucks, I was set on a mid-sizer. Colorado, Ranger or the Frontier.

I liked the interior of the Frontier, but the poor payload kept me away since we wanted a camper, but they were aggressive on pricing. The Ranger was extremely dated (23') at the time. I liked the Colorado's 2.7T, but it was going to go 4-6 months to order what I wanted and there were numerous truck-breaking issues with the infotainment just dying on people and month+ long waits to get it fixed.

On a whim I decided to test drive a RAM 1500 at Carmax on the way home from a Chevy dealer. Night and day difference on ride and space. It baffles me that they don't add another 2-3" of legroom to the rear of the mid-sizers to allow for adults to actually fit in the rear. Even a Honda Civic has more rear legroom.

Chose a 2 year old F150 2.7 Lariat for less than what a new Colorado (much less a 2.7 Ranger) would cost.

i too recently traded an MY 22 Ranger Lariat for a MY 23 F150 Lariat and was active on the Ranger5g forum. Lots of great folks here as well.

the software on these things reminds me of Windows ME ?

im thinking of starting the Tailgate Damper Debate here ????

Just wondering before what date for the CDF drum issue? My truck was April 2021 build date.
