I think I may have figured it out… if anyone wants to try it, I’m too broke. lol

seems 2024 harnesses start with “RL3Z” and 2021-2023 start with “MLT3”

So I put in my vin on ford parts website and typed in. “13A409” and the correct part for my vin without the lighting package is “RL3Z13A409B” which states “Tail lamps, power inverter #1”

I then on the same website (without my vin or vehicle entered) Searched the same part “13A409” and scrolled. I found part #RL3Z13A409E” which states “Tail lamps, Lighting package level A, Power inverter #1”

So it checks my two boxes for tail lamps and power inverter on my original harness and seems to add the light package.

Keep in mind some model trucks have additional features like a bed scale, ect. And it does correspond to the last letter of the harness (F, E, C, A, D, B) so it’s important to check your original harness by vin first to see what options are on that harness and compare to the other harnesses to include “lighting package”

I’ll include photos of the part numbers and descriptions. This was found on parts . Ford . Com…..

Note: even if you manage to get this installed from what I understand you need to use forescan to enable the feature via OBD connection. There’s a YouTube video on this for the 21-23 model install.

let me know what you guys think or any feedback if anyone is willing or able to try it lol.

I probably would just do without rather than installing the starkey ones. I like the switch in bed also and the way starkey ones are wired seems cheap to me. Not factory like at all. Bad part waiting to get Linex bed liner until I get bed lights figured out.
yeah I really don’t WANT to but I might HAVE to lol. If you are dealing with your dealer about this look at my next post maybe that can guide them in the right direction? It seems to make sense, at least in my brain lol ?

Looking to add the OEM bedlights w/ switch to my 2024 STX and unfortunately do not have the dummy plug under the bed. Only really need to be able to switch on/off from bed switch with truck off no key.

Here is the harness from my 501a without the bed utility package which doesn't have the connector plugs.

Did more research this morning by looking around at a dealership near me. However, the one close by did not have exactly what I was looking for. All the lariats with bed lights also had the multi function tailgate and I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Those do have a different light/camera layout.

Here is a summary of each followed by the 3 digits.

Lariat
Bed lights, single 120 outlet. & Multi tailgate, pretty sure no scales
DCD

Tremor
Bed lights, single 120 outlet, regular tailgate, includes onboard scales
EDD

2 XLT
Bed lights, single outlet, regular tailgate, no scales
BED

I did look at another without bed lights, just to cross reference it to mine(EAD) which also doesn't have bed lights. The other was DAD. Note the 2 common letters.

The XLT and Lariats had the same driver side light wiring. RL3T 13B669 BB.
I couldn't see the passenger side.

I don't understand the last digits in these harnesses yet. It seems each letter stands for various options, but when looking at ford parts . com you can only select a single ending letter vs 3 as we see each has.

I'm not 100% confident on this yet(more like 95%) but it seems the green/white wire feeds the lights and the green/violet is the push button input. Black/yellow for ground. I'm thinking it may be cheaper and easier to tie into those wires from the upstream harness or add those into your own factory taillight/downstream harness vs dealing with all variations on the harnesses. Could be almost 200 cheaper since you don't have to replace your original downstream harness.

My next steps are to look for a truck similar to mine and get the exact last 3 letters. Then try to figure out how to specify all 3 on these websites to order the right thing.

Otherwise, I might order the lights and button and try to tie those in as mention above. I'd only do this after close examination that those dead end in the upstream connector.

I've already done some forscan work but I'll hook up again just to make sure I see the options as described in the 2023 and below forums before ordering anything.

Quick Update
  1. It seems r3lz13A409E or J have the options we need for LED taillights, no scales, and bed lamps. r3lz13A409G is what my VIN suggests on parts.ford.com (no bed lights). J would be the equivalent with bed lights based on the description and a check I did using another VIN.
  2. I've verified the upstream harness is the same for trucks with bed lights vs. no bed lights. parts.ford.com shows r3lz14405AL for both. This is great news!
  3. I went through every wire in each harness, making a spreadsheet list and pinout for each. The small white/green and green/violet wires dead-end in our upstream connector. These colors match the wire colors shown in the photos I posted above of the factory bed lamp harnesses. White dummy pins currently block these wires on the downstream side. See photo below
  4. Next, I needed to find the pins to attach to our new wires (unless you want to replace the entire harness which I don't want to do since its 200-300 bucks). I got the part number from that main connector (7297-0094-30) and found the drawings from Yazaki. Just google the number and you'll see that connector.
Reading through the drawing notes, I found the compatible pins/terminals for the smaller wires are 7195-0157-02. Again, google that number and you can see those. These would attach to our new wires and plug into the main connector after we remove those white dummy pins. I'll have to look at the ground more since it already goes through the connector to the taillights.
Using the connectors would keep everything in the factory connectors and able to quick disconnect. The other, perhaps simpler, option would be to just pull those white/green and green/violet wires out of the upstream side and properly connect those directly to our new wires.
I can post more details later, but I'm getting close to ordering parts and giving it a shot. Just need to decide/research the last few pieces.

If anyone has a 2024 service manual and could post the bed lamp wiring, that would be helpful/comforting. The bed lamp wire colors mentioned above match what I took photos of on other 24 trucks, but they do not match bed lamp drawings I've seen posted of other 21-23 trucks. You'll see green/blue on those.

I have not looked at forscan yet. I've been occupied with other non-related items.

In the only free time I've I had for this, I tried to locate the jumper wire part number (13B669-BB) that I showed in photos above of the truck with bed lights. I couldn't locate it on parts.ford.com or anything similar. Using another Vin I found found R3LZ14A411 which is similar to the jumper wire part number that the 2023's and below were using. However, it was like 117 dollars vs the 20/30 bucks for that older part number which doesn't make sense to me..

At this point, I don't know if I even want to use that or any other factory jumper wire since the only thing I need from it are the connectors that plug into the bed lamp directly. The other end of that jumper wire be too short to tie into the main connector, so it would essentially add a connection point in the wiring. I'd like to take the new wires I add to the main connector all the way to the bed lamps if possible.

I'm pretty confident I found the missing wires (white/green and green/violet), but still need to figure out how to wire it all up without those harnesses. A 2024 Bed lamp wiring diagram would speed this part up tremendously. My initial thought was the white/green for power, black/yellow for ground, and green/violet as an input from the bed switch back to the BCM. Based on the older drawings I've seen, the switch typically breaks the ground wire not the hot as most would expect.

I found a window sticker on a dealer website with a VIN for XLT with bed utility package (includes bed lights) “01/08/2024, F150, Crew Cab, Tail lamps - Level 2, Lighting Package Level A, Kansas City Plant Build, Power Inverter #1”

A few things:

The harness for the Kansas City plant is RL3Z13A409E on ford parts website. This truck has the exact options as my truck only with the bed utility package. So I believe this would be the correct harness even without verifying the last 2 letters of the harness.

I put in the same VIN I found online for a 2024 f150 XLT with the bed utility package on ford.parts.com and it shows the harness # RL3Z13A409E, again same exact options as my truck only with the bed utility package

As for the jumpers and switch I believe they are interchangeable with 2021-2024 models, under the same VIN I found online… I searched part #14A411 two harnesses for the bed lights (jumper harness) show as fitting for that vin, as well as the power switch for the bed part #9C888.

The following parts show 2021-2024 fitment for the jumpers and are much less expensive ML3Z14A411D, ML3Z14A411F, possible they are the same parts just a new part number for the 24 that is more expensive.

This would appear to be the OEM way of doing it granted if the options are there in forscan… lol

I think someone mentioned BCM hardware is not same so you may run into further issues than the wiring harness. Good luck on your project. Always takes one person to do a mod before it catches on. :)

Since you have the VIN pull the asbuilt for trucks with the lights on Motorcraft service website and compare to your own.

I agree that E would work for your truck. Most likely J also.

I also agree that the new jumpers vs old jumpers could be the same thing besides the new ones at nearly 4x the cost. It'd be nice to see a drawing or them in person to know for sure. The wire colors likely will not align, but I'm almost 100% sure the pinout would.
The piece that makes me question this the most is the new ones say "center" and the old ones say "left" and "right" so I'm wondering if there are differences.

I just ran out and connected up with Forscan. I didn't try to locate everything like the input switch, but there are options, even in the plain text format, to enable bed lamps. I'm not concerned about this part at all.
