Has anyone looked into aftermarket extended warranty coverages and compared them to Ford's program? After a VERY long wait, I finally got my '24 KR and not sure how long I will be keeping it. When I get close to the 3yr warranty point I may consider some type of extended warranty coverage, and am just curious of what non-Ford plans are out there. As a former employee of the Ford Service Division, I know 1st hand that the extended warranty programs we offered 20+ years ago were VERY profitable to Ford. There was a lot of profit margin baked into the prices.

If it's the same problem, I would complain that they didn't fix it the first time and the first $100 deductible should apply. The dealer should agree with that. If it's a different problem, then a different $100 deductible should apply. You should agree with that.
This. -- When Ford makes a repair, the repair itself is 100% covered by Ford for 1yr/ 12K miles.

For example, we had an issue w/ the moonroof on the wife's Explorer. Took it to the dealer and paid the $100 deductible. Same issue presented itself again after about 9 months, dealer took care of the entire bill. Two years later, same issue, now with a new $100 deductible.

The biggest thing you need to look at is how long you plan to keep the truck and how many miles a year you drive. If you drive 20k miles a year after 5 years you will have 100k miles. If you get a 10 year 100k miles warranty you will run out the miles after 5 years so paying for the 10 years was a waste. This is the balance you need to determine.

I also agree that the $100 deductible was the sweet spot for overall cost. Go here and enter in your data and you will get a wonderful spreadsheet with the cost for all the deductibles and years and miles and you can easily compare the effect each move will have on the overall cost.

CA and FL have laws about out of state purchases for ESP's. If you have any address outside of these 2 states that you can use, (brother, cousin, friend etc.) you will be able to work with Granger and buy one. There are threads here from people who have done this. Use that out of state address to get the spreadsheet quotes.

The $100 package looks great. I was just worried about how fast or how many times I would have to pay for a repeat problem.

Example:
Truck has a problem with ______. I bring the truck in, they identify the problem, fix it, and I pay $100.
Week or two later, I experience a similar issues, they find the problem, fix it, another $100.

This goes on and on, etc.

Am I stuck paying $100 each time?
No, if they don't fix the problem, it's still the same repair. Don't let a dealer even attempt to pull such a thing. Furthermore it's not a per-issue cost, it's a per visit. If you have 2 issues, it's the same visit and the same $100.

Premium Care with LED light coverage.

I went with a $100 deductible.
So if I choose the Premium Care, with the light coverage, and I have a failure and parts are over or under $100, do I still pay the deductible to get it fixed?
Or the $70 negates the $100 deductible?

Pay $100. Don't forget about the diagnostic fee that most dealers will add.

There probably isn't a single repair job on these trucks that's gonna be under 100$ once you include diagnostics, parts, and labor.

Its hard to argue aftermarket vs the Ford ESP especially when purchased from a vendor like granger who often offer deals within a 100$ of the cost. Also you can count on your Ford ESP working everywhere at ford dealers and skip the headache often from 3rd party warranties not being accepted.

A $70 bill for a warranty item won't happen.

I think enhanced 'First day Rental" ($60.00 vs $40.00) and key fob is vital and I plan to go zero deductible. A loaner is a 'subject to availablelty and is NOT required. With so many dealer's wanting to keep your truck for days to schedule warranty work I must have a loaner the day I take mine in if needed. Lose your key? Have hundreds of dollars ready for a replacement and programming. Zero deductable because no matter what it's Ford's problem and not mine. And a Florida resident CAN buy from Granger..But has to be in Iowa and give a wet signature. I don't know about California.
Edit: Zero deductable and first day rental will protect you from bad dealerships if you are unlucky..

I went to this place and my 2022 fob was $80 for a third key. My Lariat has the push start so I have the programing cavity in the cup holder and I programed it myself. You need both keys to do this yourself.

I left the manual emergency key uncut and this is the key I give to vendors for work being done. The fob works everything and no one can copy the manual key.
