Fuel Door Pin

only the powerboost hybrid engine has the locking fuel door (if you want to call it locking because you can just pry on the door and it will pop open). The reason for this is hybrids of all makes require a sealed fuel system. I believe there is a locking fuel plug available for the ford capless fill systems if you want a locking filler plug.

I believe ford may have redesigned the fuel door pin on the 22 and later powerboosts. i bought the megaohm motorsports aluminum replacement pin and the original one that came off looks like one solid piece. I could be wrong but i can't find the joint in the plastic where it would come apart at.

Does anyone know if you can just purchase the rubber boot that goes over the fuel door pin? My boot has been ripped, I just installed MegaOhm Motorsports billet fuel door pin to replace the OEM plastic before it breaks.
I've done a small search and have came up empty, any information would be greatly appreciated guys.

We spent most of our 5.5 month Alaska vacation in 2022 with this broken. We go back again in 2024 and I won't have to worry about it.

I’ve had one fuel door pin fly out and hit me in the chest. Replaced and then later lost/broken and I’m on my second. Think ford charged me like $15 for the part approx. internet says it’s worth $10

Just looking at this, I may try making one from aluminum.
In the meantime, I'm glad to know it will pop back in. Headed outside to do that now.

I'm curious about this too - just filled up in really cold weather and noticed mine is torn a little. The pin itself seems fine. Looking online, I'm only seeing the entire assembly.

I tried to fix mine myself. Did not work out so I ordered the Megohm kit. 10-minute install, easy as heck, works great. Ford should have done this from the get-go. Highly recommend.

You have to reuse the boot from the factory pin with that though, right?

That's the only piece of mine that's damaged.

When I replaced mine the boot was lost as well as the original pin. Been running the Megohm pin without a boot for over a year without an issue.

I got the Megaohm pin, but reused my torn boot. I like the pin, but didn't like their shim solution if you're missing the boot. It just sits in the spot so much nicer with the boot and doesn't feel right with the shim. So, I'm still going to try to track down a new boot to order.

Wait a minute? What trim level has a fuel door you pop open with a lever/button?

My fuel door just opens freely and I have no gas cap.
