I am considering trading my 2023 Platinum in on a 2024 Raptor. My only concern is how quiet the Raptor is compared to the Platinum. I have not had a chance even to drive a Raptor because no dealer near me has had one. I can drive a few hours and test drive one, but before I make the trip, I'm curious if anyone else has driven both recently. My Platinum is super quiet, and I fear I'll lose that with the Raptor due to the AT tires and possibly the exhaust, although I understand the exhaust has a quiet setting. So maybe it just comes down to tire and road noise comparison. I like quiet, and I don't want to give that up. Anyone?

Definitely a lot louder with the knobby 35” tires, the low end torque is also a lot softer on the Raptor. Being a Platinum you have either the 5.0 V8 or 3.5 EB, the 3.5 HO feels very soft by comparison on the low end as it uses larger turbos (slower to spool) to optimize top end power. All in it creates a V6 with V6 like torque on the low end. It doesn’t feel like a regular F-150, although she scoots in the top end. It’s pretty extreme though, some people say the 5.0 lacks low end. Well take the 5.0 and cut an additional 50 lb ft of torque off at 1,800 rpm and below and add big 35” tires. That’s what the HO 3.5 is contending with lol. It wakes up around 2,500 hard however.

I like the Raptor though and could deal with it. Definitely louder in both exhaust and road noise. Suspension is soft, but not annoying. You also get the badass truck factor. I guess how much you value quietness matters, I still would say the Raptor is pretty quiet with good road going manners. Just not Platinum quiet.

Thanks... the softer suspension wouldn't bother me. Mine is fairly soft now, but I like soft the older I get. However... I don't think I can get past the noise level. I'm unsure if I got lucky and got a good one or if it is normal, but this 23 Platinum is quieter than my previous 2020 Ram Laramie, which was already pretty quiet.

I'm actually going in the opposite direction. I have a 23 Raptor 35 pkg and have a 24 Platinum PB on order.

I love having a badass looking truck and the ride quality is awesome. It does take getting used too being a few inches wider, more road noise and the exhaust being louder. Itis a fun truck. Went to Raptor Assault too.

That said. I've grown to liking a quieter truck and a more luxury feel and and classic refined look. Everybody's taste is diff. Having those larger 35s...The Raptor doest feel any faster than the Platinum.
I'm bored now of the all blk interior of the Raptor and sometimes the road noise and exhaust can annoy me on a long 3hr drive. Stepping into the bed is a little more difficult since it's a bit higher too.

Anyway. Those are my reasons for going from a Raptor back to a Platinum....having a Raptor was def a fun experience but it's not for me long term.

I was afraid of this... maybe I need to reel in my desire for cool looking for what is more realistic use. Keep my quiet ride and be happy with it.

Hard to beat a PB. Fast and quiet. I do my around town in the MME, but the PB for road tripping is where it's at.

If you are already at the age where having a "sofa on wheels" means something to you, then consider this.

Father time marches forward and not backward.

I love my sofa on wheels. Quiet as can be.

There are some 2023 Raptors at a few dealers that are only an hour away... that might be the ticket to shut the door for me. I don't see how it can be as quiet with the AT tires, though.

I've heard the ride is a little softer than the Platinum, but that won't make up for the quietness, and mine is already mushy soft like I like.

I for one don't even like the extra noise my Bridgestone Blizzaks add to my truck in the winter.

As much as I love the looks of something like a Grabber ATX or BFG KO2, I went with grandpa-spec Michelin LTX M/S tires for the summer with the last truck partially to keep road noise down.

I think a Raptor with knobby A/Ts would definitely annoy me.

The first thing I do on all new trucks I purchase is replace the tires with Michelin Defender LTX tires. I even installed 17" street tires on our hardtop Jeep, not that it helped much, as the Jeep is still natively loud even with a hard top. When we got the soft top, I left the AT tires on it, as it's loud either way due to the soft top. But in my nice truck rides... gotta have the quietest on them for sure. I can't see street tires looking right on a Raptor.

I purchased this truck in December and immediately put my winter set of wheels and tires on it. The stock tires are Hankook AT2s which is what my last F-150 came with as well. In the spring I'll switch back and run those until they're worn out- last time around I was actually pretty happy with them. They're a very mild A/T tire that's barely any more aggressive than a highway tire. I was impressed with their low road noise and good traction in the rain, they just wore very quickly.

When they're worn out, it'll probably be the Michelins again for me as well. I don't think they'd look right on a Raptor either.

Honestly, reading your post, you don't seem like a good candidate for a Raptor. Just keep in mind the coolness/excitement factor will taper off and then you will have to put up with the things that you don't like...like noise, ride etc.

Agree... should be happy where I'm at... it was merely a consideration. If I could have both, cool... but if not, I must forego the "cool" factor part of it in favor of what I know I like best in my ride.

If you're considering spending that much on a truck, then you should get Dynamat installed. It'll cost you $2k, but it greatly improves the sound issue. A/T LT tires will still be louder than P-rated touring tires, but it's more or less the only way to have your cake and eat it too.
