Overall, Ford has bigger fish to fry and doesn't seem to care about stickers. It's nice in a world where stupidity comes into play with some trademark/copyright laws online.

Don’t get me wrong, I have my thoughts about this, but then I also have to deal with reality (professionally speaking) which is making sure we don’t do anything that could potentially run afoul of someone else’s IP.

Personally, I don’t have an issue with the add-on stickers like above 7.2 kilowatt. I do have my qualms about wholesale copying of art created by someone else without permission i.e., the FX4 art. I don’t release art we’ve created to the client until all invoices are paid in full. Up until that point, my company owns the art.

I have. It makes my eye twitch a little. But since the ford bot has an account here, I just figure they don’t mind.

Right you have to watch what you are doing legally especially if you are a business. Etsy is a bunch of people doing it for a side gig and I'm sure they would stop if Ford lawyers sent them a letter. They just don't seem to bother. It's really a missed market for big blue they could sell a bunch of vinyl stickers thru Ford Performance. They DO sell ridiculously overpriced Ford Performance vinyl stickers for bed side. Missed opportunity for them not to capitalize on it and sell a variety.

I certainly agree. Having been in the graphic arts field for so long, I sometimes err too much on the side of caution. That happens when you get people wanting to reproduce something in large quantities that they shouldn’t be, but don’t understand that they cannot and don’t know the repercussions of their request.

Sooo with Etsy, I get it, it’s a side gig and a C&D will usually stop them quickly. But for me, after so many years, I like to try and respect the creators rights as much as possible.

With respect to ford and missing out on a gold mine, they do have a rather onerous licensing process. If they deem there isn’t a market for something (or a large enough market), they won’t license the brand, art, idea. That’s certainly their call to make and their brand to protect, but it does go a bit overboard. In all honesty, they’re nowhere near as protective of their IP as the mouse house.

Whatever you do...when/if you recreate it...fix the drop shadow on the horizontal part of the 4. It goes light grey straight to black when it should really have darker grey to create the bevel effect to match the rest of the letters. Once you see it you can't unsee it. The bottom is how it SHOULD look to keep uniformity.

They’re all a bit messed up. Try not to stare too much at the X.

Funny you should mention that. I’m not going in this direction anyhow but I noticed Ford been cheeping out in some areas. For example, they don’t paint under the hood to match anymore. Did they save money on my decal somehow? No shadowing?

Funny you should mention that. I’m not going in this direction anyhow but I noticed Ford been cheating out in some areas. For example, they don’t paint under the hood to match anymore. Did they save money on my decal somehow? No shadowing?

Looks like they changed the art to avoid the inaccurate shadowing. Yours looks cleaner.

Like Grafx said, probably based on color of truck. You dont want a gray shadow on a gray truck...
