I'm really getting sick and tired of this..

I don't swear but I am really getting sick and tired of this s***. Every month it seems this truck makes changes on its own. I change it back and a month later it goes back to how it wants to be set up. I've had multiple posts on this happening and really it's been more for gripes but does anybody know how to turn this s*** off permanently?
I'm 53 years old. Knock on wood, I've only been in one accident in my life, and that was when a lady pulled out in front of me and no warnings or anything would have helped it. I T-Boned her and that was that.
I know how to drive cars. I don't tailgate. I can pretty much handle myself. But this truck making changes on its own is really pissing me off and I'm tired of it.

Interesting. I've also had many similar things happen albeit ones of much less seriousness. For one, I like to have all the doors unlock instead of just the drivers door whenever I hit the button, it keeps defaulting back to drivers door. The running boards opening and closing also keeps changing. Sorry that this happened to you.

Yah honestly this could be a very dangerous thing... my last post about this was about me getting on the freeway and trying to get up to speed and merge in between a car in front of me and a semi behind... my truck went flat, started beeping and flashing and stopped accelerating because IT DECIDED I was getting too close to the car in front of me so the semi truck came up on my rear and I couldnt accelerate. He blared his loud horn and I gave him an apolgetic wave.... scared the crap out of me... Trying to get up to speed and my truck tells me no... thats friggin awesome.

True, kids today can't fathom we can back up autos withOUT cams and beepers and used to find addresses with a 4ftx3ft Rand McNally sprawled across our dash...
But if you make it an editable option in the interface than let it be editable to my choice....
Maybe after Ford gets sued cuz a semi crushed a Ford Escape that basically hit the brakes on the freeway they will loosen their Big Brother....
But still looking for a ForScan change or something, cable and laptop in hand....

My last car had AEB and it activated at 55MPH, went into a full ABS stop...after I changed lanes to avoid the car who abruptly stopped in front of me. I nearly got rear ended.

I love all of the automatic nav and infotainment and ACC/LKA et c. I just watch the road and keep a compass and Atlas in the back just in case. Technology is a tool, and if you use it as a tool to replace core skills then you have chosen to make your peace with being helpless should you lose access to that tool. There's no shame in that, and we are all liable to it to some extent.....none of us are fashioning Clovis points out of flint and angering the HOA by spearing and roasting the neighbors' dog. But we can make a more deliberate decision on how much technology we want to require, and I worry that many people adopt the "if a technology is available, then I will use that to the exclusion of all other skills unless it is cost-prohibitive to do so."

Back to OP, I have seen the Eco Idle setting on my truck revert a few times without me touching a thing.

And automation is fine if you opt for that. But if you're purposely trying to opt out of it and it comes back on that's a problem.
The level of irony in "automation" being "automatically" turned on...

I have also experienced my fade and balance on my stereo and other things defaulting back to factory. But when I'm expecting my car to accelerate to blend into traffic and it decides to fall flat or even brake on me, it becomes a danger.

I'm expecting the Ford bot to jump in anytime now...

Mine did this today. Nobody in front of me and it flashed pre collision and stabbed the brakes. I was lucky the guy who was tailgating me was attentive enough to move past me. They probably thought I brake checked them. It just started doing this after I put the 17" shorter wheel/tire setup on there so I don;'t know whether that has thrown the factory calibration off. since it's riding lower. I actually like pre collision but I don't like the active braking.
