Android Streaming boxes - MMB, Magic Box, Carlinkit, etc

No issues when navigating between rev and drive. Mostly connection just randomly drops and I have to enter Wi-Fi and BT again.

And yes, the Icons do change after each engine start and stop.

Extended Time is activated on my 360 camera in sync. Need to try to turn that off and check if that's the issue when reversing. No BT or WiFi issues on this end. I'm connected to a portable jetpack for WiFi. That's a bummer about losing the icons. I get that when rev even. Sent a short video to support earlier today.

I recently purchased the 2.0 version of the Magic Box and It's allowing me to play full screen. I did have to run a magic box over the air update which the system did itself which allowed me to have it fit the aspect ratio of the full screen. Carluex has posted the new firmware update, here's the link. Wasn't able to get it working on my box, let me know if any of you have any luck. I've emailed support and will be sure to post back. The fun factor is very low right about now.

Glad it worked out for you. I received mine today but cannot get past the UI screen. See attached photo. Can you please give me some more direction on how to get it to go to full screen?

This is a random reply. I've been reading this thread through since the start. I have the Naviks unit myself. All of this info is knew to me.... But I am noticing your air conditioning touch screen controls. Is this just a Ford (lariat, king rach, etc) option? What year truck and model do you have?

Ok so couple questions. I just got the magicbox a couple days ago. 1st. No full screen that I can find. I checked and the magicbox is up to date so it says. My apim is on the latest update. So there’s that. Also how do I keep my iPhone connected at least Bluetooth for calls? If I use CarPlay thru the box it disconnects WiFi from my truck so makes the box pointless. Do I need to just hook my phone thru the box Bluetooth only? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

So an update. I figured out just hooking my iPhone upto the magic box as only Bluetooth works for phone calls so that’s good. Still don’t have any button at least that I can see or setting to tell it to use full screen or at least give me that option. Again my apim is upto date. I have full screen CarPlay when I use my iPhone so I’m assuming it’s a update that might be needed for the magic box. I tried again today and it says it’s upto date. I’ll see if I can get a hold of their support on Monday and see what they say.

I gave up on the Carluex, it went full screen but had too many issues for my needs. I'll be sure to update how the return process went as it has to be shipped back to China at the customers expense ($30) and a $15 restock fee. That's a $45 return. Their website shows a USA address. For what, I have no idea other than to give people the impression you'll be doing business with a company in USA (not).

The TBox was fullscreen too when I first received it. Shortly after, Ford sent an OTA update and it went to the smaller screen with widget again. Until the box manufacturers push another update to accommodate the new Ford update, we're pretty much stuck.

So I’ve also tried a lot of different boxes with being able to trick the sync system into full screen by using android auto first, but now with latest update that stopped working too. So brings me to the question… have any of you had any luck simply jailbreaking or rooting a cheap android phone to play streaming apps? I know there’s a lot of ways to do it. Wheelpad and other apps like that. But you can get a fairly decent android phone for under 100 bucks while most of these streaming boxes are over 250 plus

I check the website once a week, no more thou as the latest update includes ota support

NICE!! It took some time but they made it happen for us. Love it! Tried my share of "ai boxes" while I was waiting. None came close to the TBox Max for speed and reliability. Support going strong too ?

Installed Google Voice, not a good idea. It bricked my TBox, not alone from my research.

Let's post back here with our experience with the new update.

This new update does support OTA updates, another big bonus!
