You can't do anything about the connected navigation options, but you should be able to do basic routing. What software version is on that APIM?
It’s in the gateway module. Had the same issue. Copped the as built from an identical 22’ truck that had Nav and that got it working for me. Just no connected features.

And of course now the GWM has a fancy new update. Did you by chance compare the differences? There are quite a few changes looking at the as-built after updating the module to 4.2.1.

If it were me I just ask the dealer if they can do it.

I mean yes these trucks had a forced removal but if you have a truck and it does have nav and your Apim shorts out there has to be a way to swap modules.

Ford has to be able to do this especially in a warranty situation!

if it were me if the first dealer say No I would keep asking other dealers till i get a yes
This is a really interesting scenario. The APIM I came across locally has a build date on the sticker right before the model year changeover yet still won't work with my late 22 build. You have to wonder if eventually these show up in stock because so far I've had no luck purchasing one new for a 2022.

I think basic routing is part of the connected navigation. I spend some time on the phone with Ford who explained that this was part of the $80/yr subscription. My search on other threads seems to confirm this.

What software version are you talking about? I am on Sync 4, Software Version: 22230_PRODUCT Revision:546. That's the version that was on the APIM when I installed it. The version that was on the APIM that I replaced is 22293_PRODUCT, Revision:610.

I have been unable to update the new APIM because the Software Updates: MAC address is not registered with Ford so it doesn't know where to send the update.

I think I am going to pull this 2023MY APIM and put the old one back in and go without the connected NAV. And, just be happy that I got the SiriusXM satellite radio working, which is what I wanted to do originally.

Thanks for your help.

I talked to the Dealer's service manager about this. He said that when they replace an APIM under a warranty situation, the order the part from Ford and it comes pre-coded with the VIN and the as-built data. Since my truck did not come with NAV, the replacement APIM would come without NAV as well. My guess it has something to do with software licensing.

The service manager did say that sometimes Ford will come out with the add-on as an accessory but it could be years down the road. By that time I will have turned my truck in and got a new one WITH nav making this a moot point.

I too found the as-built for an identical 22 truck and compared the gateway module settings. However, I was unable to decode those settings as there was no spreadsheet to be found that describe the hex codes and what modules they affect. I am a bit reluctant to make a blanket change to all the settings because I don't know what they do. Would you happen to know or have a spreadsheet with the GWM (716-01-01 through 716-27-02) descriptions? I guess I could go through and make one change at a time to see what it does.

For instance at location 716-01-01 the hex digits are 0112-0000-00 as compared to the as-built of a truck that has nav is 0192-0000-00. Do you know the difference betweenthe 1 and the 9 in the third position is? The other differences are in 716-02-01, 716-24-01, 716-24-02, 716-27-01, and 716-27-02.

I've looked at the forscan spreadsheets and I cannot find these registers. Am I looking in the wrong place?

As far as I know, my GWM has not been updated. And, I don't know what version it is on. How do I find this? I think the power up updates (AKA OTA updates) stopped when I replaced the APIM.

Where did you find the description for the GWM as-built data?

Anyone that has decoded it is not sharing it. Because the gateway module handles subscription services, no one is willing to share that information. I can only tell you what has worked for me.

Ah, the plot thickens... I wonder if there is more to this whole nav APIM shortage that what they are telling us. Like perhaps the Chinese embedded some code in the nav module to make us drive off a cliff. LOL. Okay, so my conspiracy theories have taken over. I digress. :)

How did you find an identical truck with navigation? I have the as-built from my salesman's truck because he ordered the same as me. But, his has a few other things as well, adaptive cruise, 360 cameras, etc.

Those things are not a subscription so it wouldn't make a difference to the gateway programming.

Same trim and Subscription services is what you are looking for.

Still waiting on my 22 APIM to show up for warranty work. Anyone figure out how to get the center screen to show what’s playing when using XM? Instead of saying audio off…
