If you shut the truck down and restart it, is it OK?

When you start it in Park, is the ICE running?

No to both...when I was looking for codes an hour ago.

I just went out and tried. Started with no ICE and no dash error. Hmmm. Fordpass shows alert from two hours ago. Will it refresh eventually?

This truck must know when I make a service appointment. Second time it cured itself after I make appointment

Just took it for a short drive. No warning. I'm an IT guy and keep looking for the system logs!! ;)

P.S. Just to add. Fordpass Alert gone now too.

OK, the reason I asked was because my 2022 Powerboost, which has never been touched by the dealership, threw that dash warning at me once early one morning shortly after I set off for the office.
I immediately turned around and headed back to the house. I also monitor several PIDs related to the Hybrid Battery and I noticed that the SOC was in the low 30%. I had never seen it that low. I wondered if it was the Hybrid Battery SOC being below some threshold that triggered the alert?

After getting back to the RV, I cycled the ignition and decided to at least let it sit in Park long enough for the Hybrid Battery to get back up to 63%, which will usually shut the motor off.

It did exactly that.
I decided to make a second attempt to go to work.
Everything was fine and has been since. For whatever reason, my Hybrid Battery appeared to have had a parasitic draw the night before and I'm just guessing that triggered the alert.

All good data points SB. In my case, however, engine had run a good 20 minutes driving in eco mode prior to throwing the error. The error went away simply sitting in driveway and after second start. Obviously, I'll continue to monitor but unless shop has access to system logs that can see when and why error was thrown it seems unnecessary to drop it off.

Thanks for the input!

Hopefully just an anomaly.
But I understand that queasy feeling you get when you see something like that pop up.

There's just so much tech in this truck.

Hrm, perhaps you'd drained the HVB by using the 12v w/ key on engine off (HVB goes to minimum charge before turning off DC-DC and switching over to truck's 12v batts) then the truck / batt got cold and it reduced the charge, throwing the code? It wasn't too low though and charged w/ ICE on and went away?

I honestly don't know @HammaMan.
I do know that I have a random drop in SOC of the Hybrid battery that is much greater than the pattern of 1-2% that most overnight off sessions result in.

It's not too often, but maybe once every 2-3 weeks I'll drop as much as 8% and it's usually accompanied by a drop of more than 5% SOC of the 12V battery.

Never have been able to put my finger on it.

This strictly overnight or multi-day? The MME has a 48hr ~350w 12v charge cycle where the HVB / DC-DC turn on to charge the 12v system every 2 days w/ 350 or 380w or something like that to try and make up for the modem running constantly. Not sure if the PB has something similar that could bring the HVB to a minimum state before killing that aspect.

Any chance the higher battery drain instances correlate with your OTA update schedule?

I honestly don't know if Ford has the Powerboost programmed to intentionally enable the DC/DC converter with the truck off.
I know YOU must read just about everything you have come by regarding the Powerboost, so if you haven't seen any documentation, I sure haven't.

I think my OTA update schedule is 7 days a week. But I have never even given the truck an opportunity to do an OTA update because I pretty much install anything that pops up in FDRS immediately.

What I need to do is figure out a good way to monitor electric current activity with the truck off. When it's supposedly asleep. The 12V gurus in the BMS thread have mentioned a couple of methods. I might dabble. :)

A little off topic but you guys would know...

With my new truck I plugged in my old Foseal OBDII Scanner with OBD Fusion. I've had it for years mainly to monitor my old 4Runner tranny temp while towing RV or to clear nagging P0402 ( Catalytic Converter Efficiency ) on wife's Subaru before dumping another pint of Seafoam in tank.

So do you guys know if the Foseal and OBD Fusion will show all trouble codes my new truck might throw? Not sure if I need to update scanner to read everything?

Thanks!

Answering my own question...I think.

If I want to use my current WiFi ELM327 scanner with OBD Fusion, I would need to purchase enhanced diagnostics. Currently, it looks like 2023 enhanced diagnostics are not yet available for OBD Fusion but guessing 2022 would work. Prolly best if I just upgraded to OBDLink MX+. The WiFi ELM327 works OK but bluetooth makes more sense.

BTW, I cancelled service appt. with local dealer about my Powertrain Malfunction that magically went away. Service rep said there was not need if there is no alert.

Not trying to get you to spend more money, but on the Gen14 platform, the latest Bluetooth OBD adapter is the OBDLink MX+
It's a bit pricey compared to some of the ELM's, but it includes the license for the Ford/Mercury/Lincoln package of Pids. And for a Powerboost, that's a really nice package!

Has great tools for customizing the gauges as well.

I'm a monitoring junky from the moment I purchased my first Ecoboost truck and started yanking an RV all over the country.

Haven't yet stressed this Powerboost over the Rocky Mountain passes yet, but I now have a good baseline for what a happy drivetrain will look like.
