I am in the process of getting all the required hardware and software to start using FDRS on my own. I have a non-F150 question....

Can I use FDRS to update the modules on my 2020 GT500? I would assume so, but I just wanted to ask.

That said, would anybody be wiling to check the VIN of this car so I can see if it has any updates? You can PM me so we do not clutter up this thread, if you all prefer.

You got 3.5.2 on 10/17. All you need is 3.5.3 and 3.5.4 to be fully up to date.

You were sent 3.5.2 back on 10/27, but it failed to install due to a server/cloud issue. Either poor data connection at the time the OTA was sent or a problem on Ford's servers.

Holy crap.....your truck is way behind on updates. 1.4.0 was sent to it 10/17 and again today in the morning, but it failed both times. The reason why is not very clear. I am attaching a pic of what I see for you. You are also on Sync version 20301 which is known to be a dead zone when it comes to getting updates, but in your case, you are getting updates sent to you, they just aren't installing.

More importantly, your truck is spitting out a buffet of DTC's everyday. Like, A LOT of codes. Many battery voltage codes and others. I don't recall ever seeing so many DTC's when I check someone's truck.

It seems to like you need dealer intervention. Your truck due to the trim level it is will not benefit from most of the OTA updates as they give you features that your truck doesn't have. However, some of these OTA's update your PCM which improves the drivability of your truck, so you still want to get them.

Thanks, I forgot to clear all the dtc's before I tried to let it update, they were all from the battery being killed by the body shop that was working on my truck, but after the new battery was installed I haven't gotten any new ones that I can see. Hopefully it gets sent again in a couple of months and I can try again. Like you said, for the most part nothing too ground breaking for my trim and I just got the truck back after almost 2 months at a body shop, so I'm not super motivated to get the dealer involved. Thanks for looking it up for me.

Mine is Dec '21 build 2022 PB KR Long bed.

I got the BlueCruise OTA update back early last year. Then got the 3.5.2 on 9/8. That's it.

Never got the Recall for Trailer Brake over OTA, so took it in and had Ford Service do it.

I'm particularly interested in the Full Screen Apple CarPlay updates.

Can someone check my VIN: 1FTFW1ED0NFA27231

Thanks

I took my 2021 Raptor in for the APMI Sync update today so I could have full screen Apple CarPlay, but they claimed my truck’s sync was completely up to date.

can someone check my vin to confirm that no updates are available? Thanks in advance!

Only the Sync module is supported on that car. You'd need IDS for anything else. (It's part of the same subscription as FDRS).

Thanks for taking the time to check for me, much appreciated. Having not known about FDRS before, I wasn't sure if I could also do my other vehicles.

Am I able to download IDS and use it the same way I can FDRS?

That’s not quite accurate. IDS is considerably more comprehensive (and considerably more expensive) than FDRS. If you get an IDS subscription, Ford gives you access to FDRS automatically. But it doesn’t work the other way. If you get a subscription to FDRS, you do NOT get access to IDS. Plus, IDS requires different equipment. I don’t think J2534 passthrough devices (like the Mongoose) work on IDS. At least J2534 devices are not listed on the Motorcraft website as compatible with IDS. I think you need Rotunda devices (VCM2, VCM3) to use it.
