No real movement here since 11/29 ... rail car made it to Voltz, but doesn’t appear to be unloaded / checked into a ford ramp. I assume next steps are:
- unload / check into ford ramp
- hop on a convoy
- delivered to granger

also, I checked with ford chat this morning before going to granger (I try to keep my Granger VVR ask to 1x/wk.) they said rail arrived and ETA is Dec10. I then asked if ETA was range or really Dec10. They oh yeah, it’s Dec4-10 range not Dec10 specifically. Interesting they just give out the info they want ?
Kind off topic question..I see you are replacing the QX56 with the F-150. Are you trading that in to Granger? I'm just curious if you are, have they contacted you about it yet? I was planning on driving my car to Granger from Chicago, hoping they match Carmax because you know of Illinois' terrible taxes.

I haven’t discussed with them, but plan to. I do have a mediocre offer from Carvana. I’m nervous to drive from chicago to Granger and then they say you have too many dings or curb rash or something. They have seem to have the online ordering dialed in, maybe I should trust they have trade in for out of towners dialed in too?

Edit: Discussing with Granger previously, they did say when car ships, let’s start discussing. I’ll reach out to them now and see what they say.

I believe they pretty much only do wholesale trade ins, based on a thread I saw on here a while ago from Granger

@Dizman , its Dec1 ... did you get a call from granger saying it’s arrived?
That’s funny…. Crickets. Still sitting in the KC rail yard as far as I know. I’ll be quick to post here if/when I get that call, but not hopeful that will be anytime soon. Only thought I have is it’s on hold due to the B&O issues being reported on 22’s and they are working out a software update to fix before delivery. Would be bad press if the issue continues into a new model year. Would be interesting to dig into the 23 window stickers being delivered currently to see if they have the unleashed system or not.

That makes sense. My Carvana offer was better than Carmax. Not sure if Carvana will nitpick / negotiate when they pick up?

Damn, my carmax was 3k over carvana and vroom. Granger has to give you deal ahead of time, that would be very shady to show up and they change the price that much. I doubt it with their track record on here, it's just out of towners are pretty much sitting ducks when we drive our cars there. I might just have to sell it private party, but then I have to deal with the general public. That's worth money to me.

I'm sure they can give you a roundabout answer with pictures and a VIN.

I'm in the western burbs of Chicago and just went through this. Was debating to trade in at Granger (also working with Savannah), but decided to sell my 2011 F150 locally as I didn't want to risk driving it to Granger and something not working out.

I checked all the usual sources: Carvana, Vroom, Carmax, CarLotz and AutoNation (they are a large network of dealers). AutoNation offered the best price and the process was EASY. Your closest AutoNation dealer reaches out with the offer and for me it was a Mercedes Benz dealership! Process could not have been easier. They walked around the truck, verified mileage and just drove it once around the parking lot. I even got the payment via Zelle.

I didn't want to deal with tire kickers nit picking the truck and I'm going to be gone on a work trip for almost two weeks, so wanted the deal done. Give Autonation a shot and see what they come back with.

My plan for pickup at Granger is to rent a car one-way and drop off at the Des Moines airport. Then have Granger come pick me up and drive the truck home!

I've never heard of autonation, thanks for the tip. Renting the car one way is cheaper than a flight?

Yes, ~$70 for a one-way car rental from me to Granger. Right on a 5 hour drive.

Wow yes way cheaper but yes I think the time thing is the constraint. Looks like the earliest you can leave is from ORD is 8:59 am on American (looks to be American and United only for nonstop). Get there at 10:30 am. Get to the dealer by 11 am or so. Hit the road by 1 pm, and be home for dinner. The only real problem is if there is a snowstorm, especially in IOWA where they do not salt the roads.
