That post was a long time coming.
Frankly I'm surprised it took so long.

I've worked for my employer for 23 years. Great culture. They let you know that they believe YOU are the one who best knows if/when you're approaching burn-out. So they absolutely support and encourage you to dial it back if necessary. They'd rather have less of you but with a healthy passion for your work than more of you but less engaged.

Jesse, please don't let us steal your joy/passion. :)

Draw the line anywhere you want to!

@Jesse-Infotainment, I don't think I am far off in saying that the community deeply appreciates all that you have done and continue to do on here. You're right, there's a point where it becomes too much for just one person to handle. Especially when they are like you just wanting to help a few people out. So yes stepping back is certainly a justified thing to do.

On a side thought. Perhaps your company might in time consider hiring someone (not you of course:ROFLMAO:) to handle this sort of thing full time and have it a paid service offered through the website.

Agreed as well. Your help to me was tremendous during an issue, and you went above and beyond. I am truly in favor of your want and need, to help those through something that could be fixed through your expertise, rather than the pain of a dealership or catastrophic fail.

As much as I would love to use you for updates and to gain “early access”, I think as the entire forum would agree, we need you here to provide the amazing help, troubleshooting and support that you have provided thus far.

Thank you for your tiredness help and support, and please let the FORUM members know what we can do to help you continue the advancement of support, rather than pull you in many different directions and wearing out a true asset to our forums!

Thank you Jesse!

Are there any terms and conditions of FDRS stating that one needs to be a licensed dealer in order to download/distribute the files obtained with the software? If not it's definitely an interesting suggestion.

I wonder how many additional hours would be spent helping those people figure out how to install the update, or troubleshoot why the update hasn't worked. It would have to be clear that the money exchanged is simply for the files and not for support of any kind, otherwise you're exposing yourself to a lot of time!!

I don't have my truck yet, but I think anyone who gives their time on this forum to help the community is a champ!

100% agree with @Jesse-Infotainment, I don't think the new forum posters appreciate the work that is involved with getting that setup, especially as this is a 6GB file and takes time to upload to OneDrive. The one or two post members need to have a little patience as we all did during the god awful BC rollout. I get it we all start out with 0 posts, but spend some time interacting in the forums a bit and you'll get an appreciation for what Jesse, tonesto, JEB, Iceman & others have done for all of us.

I appreciate it. I’m not really stepping away from the forum but my main goal is to help those that need it. So many are being left basically helpless by Ford and their dealers. We recently had the blue cruise fiasco. Maps expire you lose bluecruise. The OTAs didn’t work the dealers are clueless. I can absolutely send you an update for that. That is something that makes sense and is what I’m here for. You need help getting a problem fixed. Again no problem that’s what I am here for.
The issues become when I’m downloading 100s of gigs of data for an optional update. That’s when it becomes well I know we want it but you aren’t really in a situation that you need it. Plus on the exposure and liability side it puts me in a tough spot. Updates can have issues as we all know. People say they won’t hold me accountable but I’ve seen that to be opposite. First sign of an issue it gets uncomfortable.
So again I’m here I’ll be here and I’ll always help when needed but we can expect me to update every F150 in the forum. It’s not fair really. It takes hours of my time. Plus the resources we use to do it are going to become unavailable if it’s taken advantage of.
It’s my fault at the end of day because I do enjoy helping people. It’s not about money or anything because I’ve never been that way or pushed it. It is just about balancing the wants and needs. If I can’t help when needed then it makes us all worse off. When the next bluecruise update rolls out and we have the same situation again and I can’t help you get them back that sucks because we now I can’t help.

your situation also was a clear cut absolutely help. You were rolled back several versions. On top of that it goofed your display up.

I’ll leave it at this. It will be my discretion as to if the update is needed or not. Not to sound like a dictator but this was Never intended for optional updates. I have other people that help me and I have to also consider their thoughts as well. It’s not fair to them. They put in a ton of work behind the scenes to allow me to do what I do. No one, NO ONE can provide these updates the way I do. Except the ones that help me obviously.
So I appreciate everyone understanding. I had to put a stop because it’s been crazy with the requests.

Yeah I'm so glad you are around for crap like that, there's no way a dealership would have figured that out. Almost guarantee they would have ordered a new APIM.

I am too. Very glad. I know the dealers have no clu what to do in those situations.

Im not trying to pick on low post guys either. I have had a couple with legitimate issues message me. They werent after an update but a fix for the issue an update caused.

As a low post member but someone who has spent a bunch of time on these forums every day for the past 6 months soaking in the amazing info being shared I just want to thank you for being so generous with your knowledge.

Anyone who thinks they are entitled to this update and gives you a hard time about it is a jerk. You should feel no shame in drawing the line wherever works for you, I can't imagine the forum members ever being able to truly pay you back in the way you deserve for how much you have directly helped people as well as shared you insight.

We are all excited for full screen AA and it will be here soon.......hopefully:)

I am not sending update for anything except people that have things not working. I try to help people but it gets out of hand when it’s something we want. I know everyone wants the newest thing. We all do but I can’t support an entire forum of people. Plus the way it’s done has to be limited.
I am always willing to help. It can’t be for updates though .. I’ve got no problem with any one wanting the update I understand. But I get messages from a lot of people that have never even posted on here

there is a point that it gets to be too much. Help is one thing. When your blue cruise maps expire and the dealer won’t help and the OTA fails I don’t expect you to go buy a $500 cable for that.
I’m stating to see guys think they can update their whole truck with a usb. That’s not how it works. So I’m done . I sent a couple. That was my mistake becaus e I try to be nice. I do . It just turns into a shit show now.
If I keep sending updates then I won’t be able to help the ones that actually need it.
So take this how you want to. But these are huge updates that take a huge amount t of resources to deal with.
Completely understand your position... As is, I am amazed by how much time you spend helping people on this forum,!

Thank you for everything you do!

I appreciate the feedback guys and I am happy people have been helped. Like I mentioned I really am not picking on low post count guys. I realize that when there is an issue or a problem you are desperately searching an answer through all kinds of Forums and social media groups. I know that a lot of owners are not members of forums and dont come on a forum unitl there is an issue.

My mention of low post I should have been more specific and said ZERO post. When you have a real issue I get it. I totally understand. A lot of the people that have zero post asking for help are legitimate issues. They include pics they are real concerns. A lot of us on this very forum didnt join until we ran into issues with a dealer being unable to help.

This was all my fault at the the end of the day.. I take total accountability. This is not anyone on here that I am mad at or blaming. Its my fault. I should have said no. I should have never mentioned it. It was my mistake. Its not the low post counts persons fault. They see someone able to provide an update of course why not ask.

Ive tried to tell people no but its hard. So I had to make that post to stop it. Again its not to say anyone is an issue I just hoped to stem the constant update asks. Again if you have an issue please ask me. Ill look at it and decide what we should do.

This forum has been a great thing for me. I have met MANY great people. There are so many good people in this forum. So many willing to help. A lot of great information. So we all benefit from this. So I enjoy it. Thanks to everyone because you have helped me as well.

Is it accurate that 2022 trucks will see this update eventually with no intervention? I think I'm picking my truck up today, build started 9/1/22 so I doubt it has this already. If it's 3 months out I am good with just seeing it show up someday (especially in the middle of January, worst month ever for those in North States).

If it never comes I'll be sad, confused, lost and question the point of living.
