Can someone explain the difference between these two tail gate buttons?

These pics are both from crew cab lariats. (not 100% sure of exact trim)
Just curious why some have the x2 and some dont regarding the power tail gate.

also, i didnt know some came with push buttons for the gas lid either. can that be added?

The one with 2x is the 22 Tailgate button . 22 has the tailgate set to 2 presses within 3 seconds. 21 got the update to have that as an option.

I would guess they changed to 2x because of people accidently hitting the button and opening their tailgate.

thats a good guess and may be right. but yeah, i just stumbled across the two pics and was wondering what the actual difference is.

oh, and i got a button next to my tail gate button that has a plug icon. no idea what that is either. haha

i think the bottom one is for non powered tailgates.

@Jesse-Infotainment this is the one i got in my truck. so being that i have the single button means i got a early 22 before the change?
also, whats the button next to the tail gate button? the owners manual takes some getting used to so i might as well ask haha

For a data point, my 2022 Lariat was built in 7/2022. It has the x2 button but no gas cover release as it’s not a PowerBoost.

The button configurations and labels can and do change based on available options selected and when in the build year a vehicle is made. That’s part of why the location descriptions are somewhat vague in the manual.

Dedicated to Power boost I believe. I dont know for sure.

I dont know who gets the fuel release button. It may be part of a package

Trucks that have the unintended Tailgate release Recall or CSP dont have the 2x this was part of the answer to that there are probably trucks in april or march that have it. All depends on the build. I dont know the exact date.

thanks for explaining that. i didnt want to make a post and get called a dumb a** check the manual. there is a lot of vagueness to it and harder to navigate compared to a paper version...though, its nice how it is.
