Hi. Ordered a ‘23 Lariat 502a. Initially I had the bed utility option checked, but realized bed LEDs and zone lighting is standard, which I care most about. I don’t care about the step. I do give up the power up tailgate.

Even though manual, is the tailgate up assisted?

thx.

Did the make the bed lights standard again on the '23? They stopped that for MY '22 and you had to get the bed package to get the bed lights.

I was surprised too … I saw they did so in a YouTube video that went over the standard features.

22:34 & 41:50 ... box/zone lighting standard
22:10 ... standard auto down(button or remote) of tailgate and standard “lift assist”(not powered) up

I see what you see in the posted literature excerpts above (though the standard features picture can't be for 2023 as there's no 500A in 2023 and the 04/15/2021 date is too early for 2023MY info).

Please take a look at the 2023 Order Guide attached, pdf page numbers 16 (Lariat Standard Equipment, Exterior) & 47 (Bed Utility Package contents detail). In that I think you'll find Zone Lighting is listed as standard for the Lariat 502A but the bed (box) lights are not, they're still listed as bundled with the Bed Utility Package.

IME the current Order Guides have been the most definitive source for such feature bundling matters but who knows in this case ??

____________

Can't answer your lift assist question because I took the Bed Utility Package (full-power tailgate) on my '22 Lariat 500A, but I will opine that the tailgate step has proven to be a real favorite of mine, much more than I anticipated.

Even if clambering into the bed is infrequent for you I'd urge you to to try it with / without using the step at a dealer demo.

If power tailgate weight vs payload is a concern, take a look at my complete options list in my signature block below - I have a sticker payload of 1848# just for reference (note mine a SCAB not a SCREW).

All just for your consideration, Happy Shopping!

Tailgate without the Bed Utility package has no assist up. It's only the motorized tailgate included in the Bed Utility Package. You do get the soft-lower with the damper

22:34 He's referencing Zone Lighting, and if you have the bed lights they are included in Zone Lighting. I think this is just him being a bit unclear. Bed Lighting =/= Zone Lighting. Two different features.

44:10 He's looking at the B&P for 22, which was completely incorrect on the Bed Lighting being included with any 50_a. I'm not sure why he's doing that. You needed the Bed Utility package to get bed lighting in '22.

The order guide does not show the the Bed Lighting being included in Lariat for '23.

Go by the Order Guide.

This is very helpful, thanks. Can you share the where you are finding this detail in order guide? Either I’m missing it or using the wrong order guide(https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/2023-f-150-order-guide-w-raptor-raptor-r-released.11725/).
Thank you again!

Edit: found it ... i didn’t go back far enough in the pdf. Thanks again

Agree that this is an expensive step (about $1000) on the Lariat as you get the power tailgate up as well. But a decent side step (with no handle) is $300 and I think that is the minium you would want if you use your bed a decent amount. I am approaching 50 but still do a decent amount of construction so for me the tailgate upgrade was a no brainer but may not be needed for everyone.

One other change that dealers seem to be missing in 2023 is the 502A package gives you 20" wheels and the 863 appearance swaps them to the black 64S wheels. My original order and another posters orders had dealers charge for those wheels that should already be included but where not previously.

I believe the answer is no unless it's like the GM tailgate that has the coil spring that assists with up (makes it feel lighter).

Thanks all. I’m going to keep the bed utility option in my build. I’m sure my 5’4” wife will appreciate it too.

Me too, except that I can't open it with the fob after the truck has set for about 20 min (known issue for at least some of us)

DAMN, Luckily mine works fine whenever.

Love this option and both mine and my wife's 502A's have it.

I saw that. I’m questioning if I need the black package as sport gets rid of most of chrome that I don’t like as much. My 11 year old son likes the BAP though ?
