As I stated a page or two back, I got the update on Monday at my dealer who showed me the install logs and I did receive the DH software that Ford stated in their NHTSA report was the fix. Towing a camper trailer to the mountains this weekend so we’ll see how this goes. Fingers crossed!!

Maybe? Can you send your VIN so we can see the software version? I believe Ford showed you that but there is another DH in the module so it may have just output the F113 not F188 (which is the one needed) that showed in the logs?

I don't see how they would be installing DH when its not in FDRS...

That is probably the TRM update that came out in January that fixes a communication error, that gave a faulty DTC. It seems that many dealers see that in FDRS and think its the recall update, when it's not. Did the same thing to my neighbors F150 too.

Although, since your in Canada, maybe they have it available for your region.

I think you could be correct. It does indicate it’s the rely module and the ford pass info says the software .

So I checked his VIN and it looks like @sam_full_er still has this on the TRM:

So it seems like Ford must be confusing this issue even more if they even check a log that makes them think DH is installed? Either that or the AsBuilt wasn't uploaded for some reason yet, seems unlikely? Anybody have any idea here... just more dealership incompetency?

I received the 22S17 Trailer Brake Controller Recall letter last week and set up an appointment for the software update. The scheduler assured me that the software update was available. Went in to the dealer today (5/4) and was told that the fix was not available. The service tech said they have had a lot of issues with this and advised me not to be one of the first to get the update when it becomes available. I talked with several people at Ford Customer service and they stated that the engineers are still working on a fix. He had no idea when the fix might be available. I told him I needed to use the trailer or I am out of business. He basically said too bad, so sad. Missing my 2014 so much...

You have one of the rare, well-informed dealers. This squares with my final check on FDRS this evening. No new TRM software for my truck since the software I applied back on March 3—a couple of weeks before the initial recall notices went out.

Nope, F188 must be MU5T-19J297-DH. So far, nobody has reported that yet.

How is this even legal honestly? @sam_full_er went in for a recall, was told it was done, it wasn't and now he's planning to go on a trip pulling a trailer. If he was just a regular person who didn't get on the forums he'd be 100% in the right to think NOTHING of it and potentially end up in a wreck or worse. At least now he can test out before the trip and during to prevent a potential incident.

Something looks a bit off with what you’re showing for node F188. The middle characters should be 19J297. Do you want me to look at your as-built? If so, I’ll need your VIN.

Your F188 looks like it came from your APIM.

Nope, F188 must be MU5T-19J297-DH. So far, nobody has reported that yet.

I’m not sure we can put too much stock in this software version as definitive anymore. A couple of people have said that they had this software as an original install from the factory and that it still failed AND they received a recall notice. There is nothing about this that makes a lot of sense.

Yep. I think what @Spaceman posted above is probably the closest to what’s actually going on. The engineers are still working on it and not even they know what the final version will be until it’s released. WIll it be generic for several models (MU5T) or will each model get a specific software (ML3T for the F-150). If it’s generic, will it kill the model-specific fix that came out in February for the F150?

Nobody knows for sure. You want a definitive answer. There isn’t one.

If what @Spaceman heard from his dealer and Ford is correct, not even Ford has the final fix yet. And a couple of people with your version have reported failures. @UGADawg96 , for one.
