Sorry to hear attempts were unsuccessful. Mine is scheduled for this coming Wednesday. Will give a report. I am not holding my breath. Cheers.Took mine in Wednesday, they had it for two days and it failed every time. They want to try again next Wednesday but I am not holding out much hope.
My 2021 f150 Lariet went in to dealers today for update. After reading this threat I printed out the update and even order the adapters from Amazon, since many dealers don't have them. Unfortunately update not successful and tech said even though connectors should have worked, Ford report only certain connectors work ..so now they have ordered from Ford, then to be rescheduled. I am becoming skeptical. Will report later. This issue must be resolved.
I know its not ideal to spend money on cables and adaptors and license's to FDRS after spending 75k on your truck. No luck at the dealor if you follow the ECU programming usinG FDRS thread its very easy and any problem that can come up has already come up and been answered. There are a lot of very smart members here. That can and are willing to help you through the updated yourself. Assuming you have a newer laptop already you can get a mongoose cable for $495 and to save yourself in the long run get a 30 day FDRS License to be sure you can take your time and do all the updates. Its not hard you just have to be patient...and one more thing. Make sure you have a power supply battery charger and good battery voltage 12.5 or higher before beginning any updates.
The dealer had mine all day yesterday for the second attempt to get the updates working. I had advised them on the service bulletins and the requirement for the correct cables and they assured me that they had what it took.
At the end of the day they told me that the updates still failed and that the tech thinks it is because they updated the FDRS program to address the trailer brake recall and it is causing issues with updating the modules. He also stated that his USB drive is very old and wanted to get a new one and wait for FORD to issue a new update to FDRS.
I am in the tech field and I call BS! but I am not going to drop almost $700 to get what it takes to do it myself either so I get to wait for round three.
