I have the Lariat. I couldn't find the setting that turns on the actual temp. I even asked the service advisor but he didn't know. I will research this
Dealers wouldn’t turn it on (if they even can). It’s a FORScan mod. Not really hard but a bit involved for anyone not used to tampering with their trucks.

@Snakebitten - on previous gen ecoboosts, wouldn’t the digital temp automatically pop up once temperatures started to get elevated? Maybe once limp mode hit? I’d think the 21s would do that too, but he never saw it

Well, there’s my answer. The digital temp comes up and the whole thing gets bigger lol. Furthers my theory that something else is going on for the CEL and no leak people when we get a different type of overheat scenario (gauge stays normal, just get a message that power is reduced).

i never once had a CEL or a power reduction.

mine was always an overheat on the dash usually coupled with the fans going crazy and "Pro Power Not Avail" message.

Mine overheated on the drive home from work last Friday

I don't know when it was built to track that but I took delivery at the end of January so I would guess a couple weeks to move through the line then get to me so in the middle of the bad run anyway.

I'm guessing the Canadian winter might have helped keep it going a bit longer since as soon as its warmed up I had the problem

Took it to the dealership the monday morning when the service department opened and they don't seem to be in much of a rush to get it fixed

As of now its been there for the week with no eta on when they're going to get the part and they haven't even offered a rental to replace the downed truck
Not happy with Ford or the truck right now but will have to see if they start to pick up the pace on the repair soon

Hi Matt,

Do you know if they are ordering a replacement heat exchanger?

If you have your window sticker, your blend date should be posted on it.

Took some photos of my limp mode event today, with the FORScan temperatures displayed. Can’t find a rhyme or reason…

First pic, when limp mode first kicked in (couldn’t maintain 80 climbing hill)

Second pic shows that it was still in limp mode, despite coolant temp showing 205 degrees (it got down to 199 while I was still in limp mode).

Third pic, showing that after cruising down the mountain some, I was given full power back even though there wasn’t much change in coolant temp. In fact, it’s well over many of the times I was in limp mode, and yet you can see it’s giving me plenty of boost at half throttle and not complaining.

Hi Matt,

Do you know if they are ordering a replacement heat exchanger?
they had said that the part was on backorder and they were going to try and get one from the assembly line.
I just heard from them and they might have one to fix it on a truck that should show up next week but they aren't sure if there are enough on it for them to get one
Will just have to wait and see I guess
I'm at least getting more movement than some people on here

Unfortunately the window stickers in the truck which is stuck at the dealership since they won't release it back to me due to it blowing the engine if it gets driven according to the service advisor

Had some movement today anyway on a new one so will just have to wait and see where it goes

We’d like you to be part of @TN Rotty‘s spreadsheet. You’ll find it on page 38 of this thread.

Sure

I won't be able to get some of the info until I get the truck back though
I guess today would be the part ordered and it broke April 15th
No check engine light or warning just overheated, started limping, and wouldn't use the electric power at all because it said the engine was cold

It has 3930 miles on it assuming I got the conversion from km right

Great news to share on my side! My dealership just reached out to me, that the "W" part just arrived yesterday. They are installing it on my truck tomorrow morning! As of today, it has been exactly two months after I reported the issue!

Just dropped the truck off! They will work on it first thing tomorrow morning. Hope all goes well! I will update once I get my truck back. @TN Rotty, you can update the spreadsheet table with my latest information.
