my ford dealer says the difference between the -W and -V replacement number might have to do with Trim/cabin size?

im waiting for a -W and i have a 22 Lariat SCREW

edit: 571 order requests now. im assuming thats the number of Powerboosts affected so far

Great catch on that part number. Makes me feel better about getting a 6.5 bed rather than a 5.5 bed (163 on backorder vs 571).

And I can't figure out why mine leaks overnight somedays and doesn't others. After the dealer had the tank topped on Monday night (and of course I didn't verify the correct tank was filled), no leaks on the tray Tuesday morning, 3 ounces on the floor Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and the tank was down to nearly the Min mark, nothing the next two mornings (maybe a drop or two). I've not used the cabin heating/cooling this week.

I should probably stop looking for a leak pattern there. I'd probably have better luck trying to figure out the pattern of when my Ford Customer Care rep is going to contact me back. I'm thinking several months after the repair...

If anyone is curious, here was the replacement i received over 3 weeks ago, but it arrived damaged in the box at the dealer like this.

I was assured i wouldn't be sent to the back of the line since my original request date for a new part was 2/18ish...but that doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Is this the V part or the W part ? What is the dealer going to do with it ? Discard it ?

If it's the W, I would be interested having it! I think I can have that broken inlet pipe fixed!

I'll throw in my theory based on observations, but is probably totally wrong, so feel free to punch holes in it. When I went to the dealer to check on my truck on March 24th, there was a small, mostly dried coolant stain on the pavement (attached picture).

The battery was dead, so I used a portable jumper to get it to turn over. Of course, it only had enough juice to start in electric mode for a couple of minutes. I then looked under the truck again and it looked like a river of coolant streaming out (attached video).

So, if this whole exchanger contraption is for "comfort" as others here have discovered, it seems that upon starting the truck in electric mode, it immediately pumps coolant to the ICE in case you need cabin heat? Since it has been determined that the culprit on mine was a cracked valve, that's why it was leaking. Have you started your truck at all on those days you mentioned?

It IS easier to figure out when your case worker will update you. I had mine pinned down to once a week on Fridays! ?

Glad @Nasto got your truck fixed but bummer that it is 2 different parts depending on the bed length. I wish I knew what spot I was in that 571. There has to be someone in this world that knows when the expected manufacturing date for these backordered parts will be. Any info would be better @Ford Motor Company

Agreed. I asked my parts guy at the dealer if he knew where these parts were made and how to contact them. He said Ford doesn't give out that info to the dealers because otherwise they'd be slammed with phone calls regarding part availability. No shit.

Have you had your parts dept run an updated report on your part number to see how many are in transit to packager? When that number goes up, the back order number should go down if they are keeping up.
