Hey all,
Been lurking for a week, but appreciate the help on this site! I just placed my order at the dealer today. Here’s my question, I ordered a Lariat 501a Powerboost with the standard 2.4kW Pro Power onboard. Will I have the storage compartment underneath the rear seats? I thought it was an option, but my dealer (who seemed quite knowledgeable about the truck and ordering) said it didn’t let him add it so thought it was probably standard?

Thanks! Now for the looooong wait.

The battery sits under the floorboard under the seat. The option they are offering which I had wished I had was the capability to lock the storage box which is still under the seat.

Ok, thanks for that. So the fold flat storage box is standard equipment even on the powerboost?

No, it's an option. Did you order Crewcab or something else?

I would research that a bit more. Here is my understanding, but as this didn't apply to me I didn't fully scope it out, this is just what I remember discussed...

On the Powerboost, the battery and inverters do NOT impede on any interior volume, it is all external in the frame. The battery may be beneath the seats on the vertical axis but it is not "inside" the interior.

On non-Powerboost, the inverter for the 2.0kW option (not the 2.4kW which requires powerboost) is under the back seats, on the interior of the truck. It is same place the 400W default inverter is located.

The fold flat storage is *always* an add-on option, I don't believe it is included even in the Limited. I believe it is NOT available on a non-Powerboost, when adding 2.0kW upgrade over the 400W default inverter. The inverter is too large if I remember right.

Yes, I ordered a crew cab. Ok, I'll give the dealer a call and ask him to look into it and add it if it's an option. It'd really be nice to have some proper storage inside the cab.

That is what didn't make since to me, he ordered the PowerBoost which comes standard with the 2.4kw propower and crewcab the inverter does not impend getting the lockable storage option. They should be able to add that option.

Yeah, it is worth it, I got to see it in person and the price is reasonable.

Thanks, Bob. I think it's a nice feature and decent add-on pricewise. I don't have anything like it on my current crew cab and hate not having a suitable place to store my ball mount, tools, etc.

I hear ya, I added the swing case to mine for just that kinda stuff. I took my old one off and guess I will still use it for stuff that is not very clean but can still use the under-seat one for cleaner items. I liked it because it does not use any useful bed space because it sits behind the wheel well. Plus if you want you can remove it in like 10 seconds.

The new one makes very good use of unused space too, my kind of organization.

Hi Aaron -

I too ordered a 501a powerboost, and I ordered the fold flat storage, so definitely can be added if you want it. ?

Thanks, guys! I reached out to my dealership and upon further review they were able to add it to my order. I appreciate all the info!

An update on the swing case. Fits the 2021 exactly the same as my previous 18 and 15 F150. This thing is getting a lot of use and moving from truck to truck. Mounts exactly the same.

I did move some items out of it and into the cab in to my new under-seat storage area. This thing has a lot more storage than my 18 did.
