If they can’t easily update job 1 trucks to have the cameras working at speed, I’m not holding my breathe for bluecruise. Comparatively it should be a simple job
Is this an update that other trucks have received?

My cameras work fine on my Job 1 build, but I think the message was that if the dealer needs to make software adjustments it can be very time consuming. If downloading a blue cruise software update is going to take a dealer hours to install when it is hooked up, how long is it going to take to be sent over-the-air? I know the OTA team wants to show its ability to follow through on remote updates, but for something this big it seems more realistic just to compensate a select number of Ford dealers to hard install the software no matter how long it takes. I don't think Ford wants this to creep into February or March with no solution.

We could create a bounty for 21+ F-150 for comma.ai openpilot and skip Bluecrusie.
Bounty would be needed to port the car unless someone just wants to do it them self. Mach-e owners are in a similar situation.
Benefit would be would could use it on any road vs. mapped roads only.
Con would be the cost of the comma hw $2600 for the comma 3, red panda, harness. You would not have to buy the $500 ford Bluecrusie subscription.
One other con:

Earlier this year I asked a friend who is an engineer with a major AV company on his thoughts about installing Comma AI in one of our vehicles. His response was “depends, do you want to die in your car?”

I passed.

So I'm still not even on the early access list for Blue Cruise, although I have a truck with the prep package (and spent way too much money to get it) and I've talked to Ford on the phone and via chat and have been told that to get on the list I would need to go to a dealership. I'm at a dealership now for an oil change and the people I've talked to so far don't even know what I'm talking about when I bring up this early access list. Most don't even know about the OTA updates to get BC. What does a guy have to do to get the updates he was promised?!

Probably have to buy a newer truck...
I'm pissed off, the news only gets worse.
For Ford to ignore the earlier buyers is disgusting.
To not address us about delay after delay is absurd.
I still have serious doubts that we will ever have a fully functional BC.
Then what recourse do we have..

if it wasn’t for the better suspension on the f150 this would be a done deal already

Silverados with supercruise is my route.
im motivated a little more every time I’m pulling into a spot and hitting the camera button because I want to see the effing camera, only to be denied. A stupid ass machine, denying me for no legal and/or logical reason after spending $70k. lol what a world

Why isn't the camera coming on?
The front camera can be turned on if under 5mph.
By activating it with the button on the dash.

Of course the back camera should come on in reverse.

Ya know you wouldn’t believe it but I guess I’m starting to pull into spots above 5mph. I want the the cams on when I initiate the park so I have both hands free and can focus on actually parking and kids or whatever distractions are around and the cams are already up in case I need them, rather than focusing when the cameras will actually turn on.
So maybe I’m stubborn but I frequently see the denied message. I honestly think my approach is reasonable….especially how it would meeting my needs in a job2 and most other vehicles right away

What I don’t understand is Ford’s tunnelvision on OTA. Give people the option of using a USB flash drive to install the update and “activate” (via OTA) the functionality so that BC can be updated with the massive footprint installation that BC has turned out to be. If the primary reason is basically ”whoops, the install file is larger than we thought” - then give people a Plan B. Ford just doesn’t seem to plan for contingencies. I just don’t understand the square peg round hole thing.

I love my Platinum F-150. I’d have a hard time giving up my generator in the PowerBoost as I think Ford really hit a segment niche here. That said, the GMC Denali redesigned interior is pretty nice….

Agreed. Perhaps the total cohort of Job 1 trucks with the proper hardware installed but waiting for the software is relatively small and not a critical concern for Ford. The push seems to be toward electrification and sourcing chips. Beginning to think that retrofitting the OTA system to handle bluecruise maybe isn't that important to Ford, hence the we'll get it when we get it approach.

I just received an email survey from Ford.
They aren't going to like my answers.
It asked at the end of the survey if they could contact me..
I welcomed it, we'll see if they respond.

I’m not in the camp of being super upset about this but I think survey responses are probably the most appropriate forum for venting frustration. I do hope they take these surveys seriously.
