Rent a Tesla first.

From everything I've read... they bend over BACKWARDS to make sure every customer is happy over and above the call of duty. And you'll get your new Tesla in "weeks" NOT "months"!

But regardless of Ford's obscene, unforgivable, complete, painfully unmistakable and indisputable lack of and maybe even disdain for customer satisfaction I HAVE TO say...

FORD is AWESOME!
What? I assume this is sarcasm. Tesla does not risk one penny of Elon Musk's billions to make customers happy. As for Ford, I've not seen or heard of it having a policy of disdain for customers.

Reminds me of a story someone told in an effort to reveal just how ungrateful the modern western man has become.....

So a few years back, 2 businessmen were seated next to each other on a flight from New York to Atlanta, and shortly after liftoff, the pilot informed the passenger cabin that they were going to be given the opportunity to experience Wi-Fi internet service during the flight because this specific aircraft was the FIRST commercial aircraft to have been outfitted with the fancy new technology, for testing purposes.

The 2 businessmen that had never met previously, both shared their enthusiasm for the unexpected opportunity to enjoy this luxury, and each claimed this to be one more example of why they like this airline.

About 10 minutes into the flight the Wi-Fi seemed to stop working properly and the pilot once again addressed the cabin and apologized for the issue but stated that he looked forward to the bugs being worked out and predicted that this aircraft would soon be the real deal.

Out of the frustration of it only working for a short while, one of the businessmen stated to the other how ridiculous the whole thing was and that he intended to never fly this airline again!

The other gentleman just thought to himself "so you are miffed about something that you didn't even know existed 15 minutes ago?"

The Powerboost is going to be exactly the same kind of thing. Some (perhaps most) will continue to marvel at it, regardless of any teething issues that are likely to pop up with such an amazing ensemble of components that have never been applied before. Others will....... Well, you know where I'm going. :)

I'm not saying that I will give Ford a pass automatically in the future. They are accountable for seeing this thing through. But I'm not naive enough to think that I haven't stepped up to being an early adopter of my own free will. And so far I'm feeling like a genius for doing so. Lol

I've kept the lights on and the ice-cream frozen already several times. And not just mine, but family members too. My 89 year old dad was sitting in the dark and knew nothing about my new truck. He thought I drove to San Antonio to bring a generator to his house. After I ran 3 extension chords to the various appliances that needed to be addressed, I asked him to look out the front porch window.
He thought the whole thing was closer to Science Fiction!

Power came on 10 hours afterwards. I was actually a little disappointed.

@Snakebitten Next summer I'm installing a full transfer switch to my electrical box. Current weather trends here predict increasing amounts of freezing rain. We had a storm here that knocked out power for 3 weeks for some. If I can have peace of mind on top of a sweet truck I'll take it, along with any hiccups that need warranty work done ;)

Exactly, wish I bought it sooner!
Well, I think everyone wishes they'd gotten theirs sooner ;-}

Got mine as quickly as I could (and having to wait til summer was a good thing, in my case, as I had no place to park it at the old house)

I was slightly hesitant to buy a 1st gen product (I acknowledge Ford has been in the hybrid electric business for years, but the PB is still the first of it's kind) but after the test drive, I decided to take the chance.

I do have one significant regret. I picked up my Powerboost in Iowa in June and, first time in the seat, drove it 1400 miles back to Prescott, AZ without a hiccup. In September, we hooked up our 6,000# trailer and towed it 3,000 miles, up the west side of the Rockies and back down the east side, again without a hiccup. It has yet to see the dealer, altho' an oil change is getting close. My regret? Ford's chronically poor way of communicating with its customers. We're actually considering a Mach-E now and I'm seeing the same lack of satisfactory comms from Ford with that community and their issues as I experienced while waiting for my F150. This is our first Ford, my originally doubting wife loves the truck, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. So it's such a shame I'm left with doubts about buying from Ford again, even tho' we are the perfect use case for a MME.
Did you buy from Granger Ford? I just ordered a 22 XLT PB from them yesterday!

No regrets here yet, but there's still time! Only a little over 3K miles so far.

I see a lot of complaints about the order process. I've purchased a lot of vehicles over the years and have never been tempted to place an order before they are on dealer lots. Pricing is usually high early on, and the ordering process always seems to have issues/delays (have seen others suffer with it from FCA and GM as well). In many cases, some that place early orders are still waiting on fulfillment when others can walk into a dealer and pick one up.

I understand that you can spec out an ordered vehicle exactly the way you want, but apart from that; what is the appeal of order a vehicle vs just picking one up off the showroom floor?

For me it came down to pricing. I intended to buy off the lot at first, but with the market the way it is, I would’ve been buying an STX or XLT at best vs ordering with the deals on the forum, I was able to get into a Lariat 501A at the budget I wanted to be in. I didn’t need the truck right away so it was definitely worth the wait for me. Another plus: having to wait put me right in the timeframe to get 0% financing, but that was just a welcome coincidence.

Lowest possible miles on the odometer? Fewer butts in the drivers seat? How about everything you really want, and nothing you don't? Or perhaps all of the models on the lot have a black interior, but you want the Baja Tan instead?

These things all mattered to me, and I was willing to wait, so....

Understood. I suppose it depends on how particular one is. When car shopping I always have a list of 'must haves' and 'nice to haves' in terms of options and features. I make sure I get the things on my 'must have' list and anything else is a bonus. Although I've often had to shop around from dealer to dealer to find the must haves, I've always been able to satisfy that list off the lot.

Over and above this I can give you about $12K reasons. That was the difference for trucks I could find (most had $4-5K ADM) vs what I bought my ordered truck for.

Wow, yeah ADM should never be paid in my book. Assume you may have purchased your truck in the last couple of months during the chip/supply chain issues? Inventory was low when I purchased mine back in June, but I just searched online until I found stock and didn't have any ADM back then.

That's what "I've read" means.
Now I've "read" your post.

Sorry to hear that.

I live in a socialist utopia where you may or may NOT have "electricity" at any given time. An "EV" isn't an option for me.

And as soon as possible.. apparently filling my tank with Gasoline won't be either.

Maybe I'll buy a horse!
