Heated Steering Wheel Upgrade DIY Install (2023 STX)

I have completed my first Real Modification on my STX thanks to the information and inspiration of this forum.

Special Thanks to Livinitup for his Forscan spreadsheets as well as all the other members that contributed information on how to perform this upgrade. I spent weeks reading just about every post related to HSW swaps.

I purchased the following parts:
ML#Z-3600-RA - Heated Leather Steering Wheel
W721079 - Steering Wheel Bolt
ML3Z-3F791-BB - SCCM
And a wiring harness from MidnightOEM

Installation was straight forward. I did need to remove the Power Tilt Button from the new SCCM and swap the Turn Signal Stalk.

I liked the color and finish of the trim plate on the new steering wheel, it blends in well with my dash trim.

I performed my Forscan module adjustments based on information from this site and the instructions from Midnight OEM. I cleared any DTC faults and tested.

The heated steering wheel button appeared on my screen and turned right on. The wheel began to warm up quickly.

The only issue I found was the Volume Up and Down Buttons on the new steering wheel did not seem to work, so I swapped with my original ones and all is good now.

Today I did my first remote start and was greeted by a warm cab and steering wheel.

It's really cool when something like this works out this well. This is a Great Forum!

Here are some pics and my Forscan modifications. Maybe this will be useful to another STX owner.

I think the next mod will be Factory Bed Lights and the Factory Fog Lights.

Great job! Is the heated wheel thicker than the regular leather wheel? Looks thick in the pic.

Yes, it is slightly thicker, probably the thickness of the leather. It feels so much better than the rubber one.

Awesome to see this. I jumped into an STX last month as I wanted a colour combo that other trim levels just didn't seem to offer in Canada.

Ill be wanting to add a HSW and heated seats. I love the fact I won't have to add some push button into the trim and its on screen. Would you know if this also the case for heated seats?

I am not sure about the heated seats, I think that mod does require the heater control with the push buttons.

Last week was the first time I wish I had swapped out my steering wheel for a heated one. I have the button from when I change out my controls for the ones with the LCD temps but I never swapped out the wheel.

Hi OP. Just picked up my first Ford F150 ever. Always been a GM guy and discovered my new Lariat doesn't have a heated steering wheel. Pretty shocked. Anyway, I see you added it on the STX trim, do you suspect there will be a difference adding it to the Lariat. Do you have any suggestions on where I might find a thread of someone who's added it to the Lariat?

Yup, I've got the same. I'm thinking of doing this mod too since prices have come down from what they used to be.
