The Ford F150 kicked butt on some challenging rocky trails up to 11,500 foot altitude again !!!
FYI: Upgrading to 17" from 20" wheels and some sidewall made this rocky trip absolutely amazing.

What tires are you running? Absolutely gorgeous! And happy to see the 5.0 has no performance issues at that altitude. Thanks for posting!

Where is this? I was raised up in Bishop…
Kool. Yes, turn out of Bishop. Coyote Flat, Funnel Lake, Hunchback ridge... and other super secret hidden locations... LOL

I thought that’s where you were… Been up there many times over the years… When I was up in Bishop a month or so ago my sister who lives up there told me that the coyote flat Road was washed out and impassible… Apparently that’s not the case!

How was the trail up to the lake? I hear it takes a toll on a lot of transmissions :)

Looking to do this, but waiting on lift & tires. Are you on a 2" lift with 35s or 33s?

Yes it gets washed out, usually in Spring, but It sometimes gets maintained periodically , usually by local volunteers. The trail up was in great shape this trip, not so much last time I was up, 2 vehicles with flat tires. Only saw one on a taco on way down this trip, we helped change it. (good trail karma)

I went up Silver Canyon on the White Mountain side instead…
Awesome ! We explored the White Mountain side last year. It was amazing. I think we went down Silver Canyon I think going up must have been sweet though. Bristle cone pines. Just need to know when to turn back. One drive shaft, one cv joint and an extra 2 days for a paid recover on that trip, Cherokee and Tundra, no Ford issues LOL . Part of the risk we must accept.

Funnel lake is definitely a challenging trail for sure.
The Ford 302 C.I.D. coyote with 3.73 Ford diff can walk up it on idle in 4 Lo, M 1 no problem. flex...ROFL
I'd recommend at least a 4" lift and 35's. 2" and 33.7" would work fine on 17's. Yes I have a 2" Icon level and 35's. A bit o trimmin, cutting, pinning, paintin etc etc. (hint: remove white plastic thingy) But that's for another thread.

My stock 99 XL up at Funnel Lake about 20 years ago…
Sweet !! Reminds me of my Old Ranger, Oxford White Supercab, 4.0 v6, 5spd manual, 4.1 LSD, stock with KO2's. Probably could have made it up, if I could go back in time and teach my dumbass self how to navigate rock gardens. ROFL Now my '67 notch back Stang with 289 that's another story...memories...ha ha
