Hi All,

I found a damaged main connector on my center console wiring harness when installing the lighted cupholder / media bin / glovebox light retrofit. I'm assuming it was broken by the same person who butchered the factory wiring over by the BCM when installing the dealer-required GPS tracking system (since removed). Whoever it was, they had put a fat zip-tie on there (also now removed) which, although holding it together, was also putting sideways pressure on the wires. I've replaced the zip tie with a narrower one, for now, but I'd like to replace this connector eventually. It's the grey 20-pin connector circled in red in the attached photo. It's hard to see, but the section of the connector that retains the locking tab is broken off.

If anyone has one of these for sale, or a lead on one for a fair price, please feel free to let me know. I found the connector for sale with the help of JHForman812 (thanks John!) but they aren't in stock anywhere and require ridiculous minimum order quantities. Someone is selling the entire harness on eBay but they're asking $150 + $20 shipping and I think that's a bit much. There is also someone on the F-150 Lightning forum who posted a complete harness for sale in May, and I have sent them a PM, but I wanted to ask here, too.

Thanks in advance!

Dustin

If you know the Ford connector part number they should sell a pigtail for it. Info for that is on the parts diagrams too.

Oh wow. I had no idea. Looks like Motorcraft has a guide, but their latest was published in 2020. Some more research is in order. Thank you!

Yeah there are multiple PDF files that show up on Google and I'm sure they have probably used that connector for a while. If you have the paid Motorcraft website diagrams it lists the pigtail part numbers if there is one. I only know that from poking around in it one day to try it out.

Curious and off topic, but why was there a “ dealer-required GPS tracking system”? Sorry if I sound ignorant!

Some dealers go to extreme measures to protect vehicles on lot beyond the annoying window etching. Saw a post on a forum where there was part of a GPS monitoring system screwed to the front of the dash. I wouldn't buy it.

Yup. I didn’t even know it was on there when I bought it.

I don’t believe I would purchase a vehicle from this particular dealership’s lot again, just for this reason.

Ah, got it! I typically order my vehicles from factory (A/Z Plan and grandfathering incentives), and make it clear no anti theft devices or etching are to be added. I was curious if it was a bank requirement, as a protection for defaulting loans (I’ve experienced that in non-prime lending). In Canada all liens are registered with the PPSA Personal Property Security Act, so liens are visible when transferring title at the government’s offices, and of course dealers run lien checks (or should).

The truck was a bit of an impulse buy, and I definitely didn't do my usual due diligence. Won't make that mistake again. The last thing I need to do is replace the driver-side footwell airbag cover that they drilled the screws into for the GPS tracker green button (for whatever that does).

Update on the OP... I was able to buy the above-mentioned used harness from the gentleman on the Lightning forum. It's en route and should be here Monday. Assuming it arrives intact and suits my needs, I'll mark this thread as sold/acquired.
