Question for the group on Battery Days in Service. I've 22' PB King Ranch which was experiencing the lovely "Deep Sleep" issue ongoing. Serviced at Ford and they eventually found 800 CCA battery registering CCA at 158. Invoice states "Replaced battery and Reset Battery Monitoring System"....... All well and good but my Vehicle Battery - Days in Service PID is registering 551 days in service, not 31 days, which I would expect to see since replacement of the battery and a reset of the Battery Monitoring System.

Am I using an incorrect assumption?

Battery days in service is for the hybrid battery not the 12v battery that was replaced.

Hmmm, open to a new learning and discovery but I was pretty sure the EV battery information was under the Battery Energy Control Module - Battery Age in Months. It seems it would make sense to quote the EV battery in months vs days due to longer life, but I’m no authority and making assumptions.

Interesting, I think you may be right. I didn't know there where two different pids. you could try reseting the bms again to see if one pid gets reset then you would know. and it is possible they didnt do it when they replaced the battery.

Reset BMS and now Vehicle Battery - Days in Service reads zero. This would indicate this is the 12v life PID entry.

Will pop the hood tomorrow and look for date codes on the battery. Sadly, due to a bit of area dealer mistrust I’ve need to prove to myself they did replace the battery as they also said they reset the BMS.

yeah I would be checking the battery date code just to be sure. and now we know for sure the days in service pid is for the 12v battery.

Dang.
You'd think they would actually make the effort to reset the BMS if they replaced the battery.

And yes, the PID you are referring to is absolutely a value for how long it has been since the BMS was reset.

Technically the BMS has no idea what age the battery is, just as the oil life monitor doesn't know how many miles are on the oil. They are simply "counters"

According to Ford, the charging strategy IS influenced by the "Days In Service" counter.

Dealer definitely did not reset my bms when they changed out my bad 12v battery, I checked afterwards with forscan and then reset it myself.

The good: Checked battery, they did replace it.

The bad: All the reservoir caps were loose and wiper fluid cap wide open. In Tx, doesn’t take long for evaporation to empty that container.

Can’t seem to find a Ford dealer in my area which employs anyone who doesn’t have a “busted give-a-shi#%er”.

I replaced the battery ~ 2 years ago and did not know about the BMS reset. I do have the date I Installed the new battery in my maintenance records. So, I know the actual day count. Is it possible to enter the correct day count? A BMS reset will make it zero, but I would like to enter the actual day count...
