So, while I don't post on here much, those who have seen will know that I ordered my truck 21 January and have patiently waited through this long and arduous chip shortage or whatever has caused delays. I was thrilled to learn that my Lariat had finally been built and would be on its merry way to the dealer.
Well, that changed today... I just learned that there was a train derailment in Hannibal, MO, and low and behold, my truck was one of the lucky ones on there and it now has been totaled!!! (Thankfully no injuries reported.)
I know there was at least one other unfortunate soul that a similar instance had occurred, but I cannot locate the thread.
If this person is still hanging around, I'd be curious to know what options and/or consolations they offered you.
My dealer is saying that he could try and find a truck on a lot somewhere (yeah, right) and that they would order a new one with high priority when he could get around to it...
I am shattered.

Yikes! That's terrible news!

I had my local dealer try to put their hands on multiple vehicles before and after I decided to place an order (I eventually got less and less picky) without any luck. The other dealers simply would not let go or trade anything. It didn't help that my local dealer did not have much to offer (depleted inventory). Lariats are tough to come by as it is.

Is another dealership an option for you if there is something within a reasonable distance with something you like? I say that because I was willing to give up on some of my plan pricing to get what I wanted sooner on another dealership lot because I'm treading a fine line on trade value and timing. I did find what I wanted!! However, this dealership did not honor any plan pricing and didn't offer as much on my trade and gave me the run around (making me realize how much I should just stick by my dealer of choice).

At the end of the day I settled for my order. Hopefully given your situation, I hope Ford can do something to accelerate a vehicle for you and those who had special orders on that train. Unfortunately, timing isn't on your side with the ordering window for 2022s around the corner with likely a February delivery at best.

@Granger Ford or @GrangerChip, what's the likelihood of you being able to place an order for him now and get your regional rep to give it the highest priority? Would you anticipate that possibly moving faster, or would it still be completely unpredictable?

cjduello, that sucks! 7.5 months since order, only to finally make it through and get totaled in the derailment.

If Granger has some allocation and can take your order and get it prioritized, it might be worth the additional wait and a quick 5 hour drive to Iowa to get it. Just a thought.

Hi. I can say this much - we're running out of time to order 2021 F-150s. I don't have an exact date for their cutoff but if you're considering a 2021 , I'd move on that sooner rather than later. We typically say 8-14 weeks from the order date with all we've experienced with the semiconductor chip shortage and various other delays. We order them at priority code 11 and despite what is out there on various channels, moving it to a 10 makes no difference when it comes to timing.
