Anyone else had trip meters 1 and 2 randomly reset back to 0 and then show a low decimal for mpg? I use trip 1 to hand calculate mpg and trip 2 for my oil change. This is annoying. Has happened 6 times in 3 months

Yes, I noticed it with the last fill up. I too use it to make sure mileage for oil changes.

My mpg is always in the single digits so I think mine has done this since day one. I only have a little over 500 miles on my truck. I went 480 miles when filled up and that was on 28 gallons so I know it is wrong.

Not exactly sure what causes it, but I replied to another thread. I think I narrowed it down to leaving the driver door open for a long period of time. Somehow it resets everything but the mpg.

I noticed this on my truck too, and thought that was odd. reset it and it worked fine but then did it again in the same week. The doors open too long thing does make sense sort of since random relays click when opened for 5 minutes and the interior lights go out. also tends to be an issue with the voltage Battery management system (wire connector on negative cable). I started my truck and it was putting just over 12 v. then pulled the BMS connector and it went to 14+ and gave a notification on the dash "service charging system" so I plugged it back in at 14V and it stayed. I cleared the message turned the truck off then started it back up. It maintained 14+ volts and didn't show the message again. I think it just needed to be set but I maybe wrong we will see. also disconnecting it won't hurt anything will just give an annoying message if you leave it unplugged, but no service engine lights. disconnected the alternator will function old school way unregulated by BMS module.

What I see is they roll over when the miles goes over the 9999.9. The rest of the information remains accurate. And the remaining digits are accurate, they just lost the leading digit. I use Trip 1 as the totalizer sine deivery.

I have a 2022 FX4 that has this same issue. Open doors is not my issue. I was driving back from a trip, stopped for lunch and when I got back in, Trip 1 and Trip 2 MPG and MLS were both at 0. It’s happened to me 3-4 times and it’s frustrating. Anyone know how to report this up the chain to Ford? Seems to be not all that uncommon.

I think I may have found something. While looking at TSBs through the ford website tonight (before my bumper to bumper expires) I came across SSM 51972, it looks like ford finally acknowledged it’s a bug after two years of posting and venting about it. Spread the word on other forums. That’s what I am doing because I’ve posted on a bunch as well
