Tailgate viscous dampener cartridge?

Does anyone know if the Lariat power tailgate has a viscous dampener cartridge installed at the factory that slows the descent? I have the 502A, FX4, Sport packages. My dealer says yes it is installed but a rep at Ford says no, it is an option. I can hear what sounds like a hydraulic noise from the right rear side when the power gate goes down. Won't be sure unless I take the right rear light assembly off and not inclined to do that so am asking if maybe someone else has done that. Thanks.

I don’t have the power tail gate, but mine does have the dampener and yes it is behind the passenger side tail light. Pop yours off, it’s 2 bolts and comes right off

It's standard on the Lariat because the remote tailgate release is standard.
