Should I have full screen Carplay Google Maps?

Just got the recent 3.5.3.2 update but still can’t go full screen on Google Maps. Am I missing something or is it not supported yet?

Full screen, at that point, is up to Google's OTA

Yes, Google needs to push the cool walk update to your phone. They've been super slow in doing this, unfortunately the only option is to wait, since this is a server side change that only Google can do.
