2025 F150 Lariat 4x4, ~1,000 miles .
I saw one post on this same message occurring for someone but they were in a different circumstance and it was a 2021 PB that the post reads like the problem was resolved with a sw update a while ago. So I figured, I would post and see if anyone here has a more similar experience OR if the official Ford account would be interested in this and learning about it for improved diagnostics in the case this isn't an actual problem (fingers crossed).
Took the truck to the beach this weekend and everything worked normal Saturday, tire pressure at 20psi, used the off road drive mode (2H & diff lock with the cool offroad display screen). Went back Sunday to a different access ramp that requires some more distance driving in soft sand, selected offroad mode and about 2 minutes into driving, I had several messages come up on the display.
The first message/diagnostic was Service AdvanceTrac. Others I recall were Advanced Front Lighting system, Collision Avoidance, Lane keeping system, and hill descent control. I thought maybe a loose electrical connector or sensor got bounced loose so once I reached a spot and stopped, I had a look around the inside of the wheels but found nothing obvious. At the end of the day when I started the truck the diagnostic messages were still present and mode select was not available but 4 high and the diff lock was engaged . The part that makes me think (and some hope) that this is a diagnostic definition problem and not a sensor or harness problem is that once I drove over the dune to a hard pack sand, I disengaged the diff lock and selected 2 high, drove to the pavement and one by one every amber alert icon cleared itself and all the assist systems started reporting available; all on the same key cycle with the only obvious difference being I was on a paved road with painted lines. I drove out to a spot and inflated tires, turned the truck off at the gas station and drove 4+ hours home without issue. All assist features worked like normal.
I called the service department at the dealer to see if they could remotely check diagnostics on my truck because of some diagnostics over the weekend and he was able to see diagnostics remotely related to ABS system.
So, anyone else have issues in conditions like this reduced tire pressure and high tire slip caused system diagnostics that resolved? I am curious if a diagnostic detection strategy is borderline too tight for offroad conditions or if I have a gremlin waiting to become a bigger problem in the future. Official Ford account, if you are interested in remote data collection or more info, I'd be glad to PM you about this, I'll be going back to the same location multiple times this year.
